Do you care if the Sonics stay or go?

7:41 PM Fri, Jun 20, 2008 |

upfront_sonics.jpgAfter the first week of the Sonics trial, Seattle attorney Randy Aliment says he is optimistic that Seattle will end up hosting an NBA team in the future. He says the city has made its case that the contract with the team must be fulfilled.
What do you think? Has the city made its case?
If the Sonics are in Seattle next year, will you watch any of their games?

Ive never watched a Sonics Game, Unless i was forced to watch it at a bar or somethin.

Don't Care. But the Millionares don't need my Tax Money to Help them.

Let's face it, Seattle is more of a baseball/football town. Basketball has never seemed to hold it's own to the other more popular professional sports. I wouldn't mind either way if the Sonics stay or go. But it seems logical to move them somewhere else if the stands are almost empty here in Seattle. I don't care as long as I can go watch the Mariners at Safeco...even if they are the worst team in baseball right now ;)

I've been a Sonics fan ever since they arrived in the late 60's and have memories of all the players and memorable games throughout the years. As long as Clay Bennett is the owner this team isn't truly a Seattle team, but losing the Sonics would be a great disappointment.

I've been a SEATTLE SuperSonics fan for 41 years and I prefer that they stay here. I'm saddened with the prospect of them leaving. I'm also saddened that the Sonics management chose this path. What they don't seem to realize is that even if they play in OKC next year, they will not realize a profit until the team starts winning. They made a profit however small, here when they won and didn't when they lost.

The thing is The Mariners(Sonics)(Seahawks) shouldn't be in last place so we can only do what we can do.

When David Stern said something like ". . . the Sonics are moving. It might not be this year or next year but they will be moving out of Seattle . . ." I have to ask myself why is the city so bent on spending the tax payers money for such a losing cause?

The outcome of this trial is meaningless. It doesn't matter if the City of Seattle wins or loses, the Sonics will be leaving. The only one that can reverse that is David Stern. And he already indicated that ain't gonna happen. Bennett might have to keep the team for two more seasons, but there's no way he's renewing or even considering a new lease anywhere around here. No matter what the City does.

I'll go this far with the debate: If they stay, ok fine but not with CLay Bennett running it. No thanks. Ticket sales won't happen anyway and what so-called fan wants to put any money in his pocket..? If this deal about making them live up to the lease is nothing more than milking it for two more years then forget it. Even if you're an aspiring rookie, who in the hell would want to play on a team thats the mother of all lame ducks. You would get better bragging rights by saying you played with the Vancouver Grizzlies...

I think That its good to support a public icon like the Sonics which has many good memories, but I don't understand why people could protest so much on a sports team. I mean look at it this way, if people protested "Fuel Costs" as much as they did for the Sonics I bet something might of happened with price reduction. But look people, it's the government steering your focus off of major issues. Your helping them get loaded while more people keep losing jobs. I think we should worry more about the economy instead of a sports team.

I made money on Boston. For the first time Allstars had accumulated there. We plan on the big man dominating next year, yet we allow the Celtics another shot. They're not as old as that 2004 Lakers team. What's with all the excitement about the Lakers, all they had is Kobe. On Politics, Howard Dean over the field last round. Gas prices, I got an email saying I stopped the McCain in Florida. (GOP really wanted Hillary to win, actually shot the opposition out in Florida to campaign, because they knew they could beat her.)(We got after them.) Now, today they're threating us with terrorism on our blogs. In any case, these are just bad people. (opinion)

In the Pros owners make bad decisions and that sets the thing. (Set the thing.) In Seattle, recognizing that the big man dominates in basketball (Shaq attack) they went out and got a 17 year old from Bakersfield. They went out and got a 19 year old along the lines of Lebron James.

I like football because. Deion Branch is only 5'9". 11 players doing different things.

But, some people like basketball (and) you gotta let 'em have it.

The 79 Sonics came from disparate places. Me I liked Gus Williams. But, when Magic went around the top of the key in '87 and was unguarded. Had to left my Celtics behind. (Picked up with the New England Patriots later) Bird, was impressive; however. Root instead for the Seattle as (the Giants, Oakland, Miami ('72 people will tell you about it). Don't really like 'em.

Not too fond of the Vikings eithers. Come to think of it. But its the game to be concerned with. Along with World Cup soccer.

Honestly, I would rather watch a hockey game at the key arena than some basketball. The team isnt even that great anyway. I just dont see why this was all over the news like ALL the sports were leaving or something. Not too meantion the whole court case where the news HAD to cover and it was considered breaking news... yah right!
