Obama vs. Clinton: The music videos

12:35 PM Fri, Feb 15, 2008 |

A music video for Hillary Clinton (click to view) is making the rounds of the blog world. Quite a number of Clinton supporters have posted music videos to support their candidate, but so far, none of them has made the splash that will.i.am's video for Barack Obama (click to view) has. Bloggers have not been kind to Clinton's video this week. While the campaigns have no control over these efforts, do these videos in any way reflect the themes of the campaigns? Your call...

A candidates music video has nothing to do with how I vote nor does it reflect my personal demographic. I don't care whether a candidates music theme is from Led Zeplin or Leonard Bernstein, it matters not. Its only the news media that seems to think its worth talking about.

Music videos may not influence the way I vote; however, I think it is obvious Obama's message of hope has spread across the generations in a way no other candadate since Bobby Kennedy has. He is young, new, and fresh; yet has the intelliegnce and experience to bring effective leadership and change to America and to the world. He will unite us as a people and then our nation with other nations. We will again be a country of true leadership and members of the global community. This is his message and it's a message I can believe in; regardless of who endorces him. He has my vote because he has heard all of our voices!

Music videos "may" influence your vote? Thats whats wrong with the so-called process. A candidate has a hit theme song and off we go to the popularity contest. Hell, if thats what it takes to tip the scales then those running for office need to pick up some back issues of Billboard magazine and work the numbers from the Hot 100 list. Their's enough show biz distractions taking place to sway voters from addressing the real problems and issues. The national news media makes sure of that. (Note the latest McCain girl scandal)Music videos belong at the coronation ball, not the campaign trail. Fortunately Obama keeps under the radar and works his butt off to keep it all focused. He's likely the next prez because of that.
