It's difficult to assess if Gregoire is vulnerable or not. Over the past two years, we have polled regularly with SurveyUSA on her approval ratings, and while they have fluctuated greatly, the net result is Gregoire sits at a 53-percent approval rating today. If the economy continues to boom, and the state's surplus grows, can Rossi make the case for change? Here's a look at the data we have from Survey USA on Gregoire's approval ratings over the past two years. 15 Comments |

Rossi won the last election. . .twice
Unfortunately the liberals in seattle stuffed the ballot box enough by the 3rd count.
The election was right out of the movie "Black Sheep" with Chris Farley.
With Liberals, The dead, Felons and Dogs voting democrat. . .more than once even, rossi doesnt have a chance.
Even less of a chance with that chip he's carrying around on his shoulder, coming out too strong on a negative campaign he'll do himself in without help from the Dem's or courts...
I am very annoyed that Rossi is back. He is still a typical republican: "the other guys tax and spend." Taxeshave not gone up and we havwe an excess." Never specific. I don't trust republicans in general and land-grabbing real-estate exploiters in particular. Rossi needs to get to other issues besides uncontrolled growth (because it's our right); get off the Gregoire has been in office too long argument- it's time for a change (Chris has been excellent in everything she does). Why does Rossi hide out in Bellevue and Spokane? Is afraraid of us big, bad Seattleites? He needs to completely divorce himself from every alliegence to bush and denounce him.
I voted for Gregoire the last time, and kicked myself afterwards. She is for the government and not the people. This time around I will place my vote on Rossi and never look back. I am so happy he has decided to run again. Gregoire has managed to raise every tax that she said she would not. We need some relief and we need someone that is for the people, and that person is Rossi.
The Democrates will do anything,ANYTHING! To win. Legal, not so legal, moral, immorale, underhanded, overhanded ,sidewinder ect.Always remember that deep within democRATe is what they are.
We are both VERY glad to see Rossi running again, after all He did win last time and we hope people remember that, Gregiore did not win and should't have a chance to put us in the red more than she has .
Rossi did not win he has only been whinning ever since he lost. she won and thats that lying cheating and canceling peoples votes is a republican tactic. they only say the democratic party did that is because that is what they were trying to do and didnt do it good enough. to cheat to win
Robert - Please next time you have D Rossi on your show, have him answer the questions you ask. I will not ever vote for such a sore sore sore sore loser. Just tell me what he would do to make things better. The totally negative attitude he displays and his head tilting backwards movements tells me he's just in it to satisify his anger. I have no time for him.
All that dino has to do to do a better job than christie is to get elected and sit on his hands.
Washington state may have had a surplus in tax revenue, but we have roads that are in big need of repairs. The infrastructure is sorely out of date and this governor has done nothing to help or make things better. Education is failing at 46th in this nation and the testing system does not work. She spent and wasted money for things that showed no progress or give anything back to the people. Whether Rossi will do better, it is hard to say, but we need the governor to be for the people, not the government or personal desires. The people here need a lot and are getting nothing to show for it.
Personally i think we need a 3rd party candidate that will stand up to big business, and make this state the best in the nation. We need a governor that will stand and be there for the people of this state.

I have always been an independent voter. Rossi is a wonderful replica of the exceedingly persuasive (now out-of-closet gay) man that I once married. I do find it stupefying that there are so few who consider a real estate agent publicly reinvented into "Commercial Real Estate Investment Broker" cause for any red flags. Does this mean B.A's are now free to call themselves Ph.D's? Is fraud just... something "everybody's doing now," and perfectly acceptable? And is this even AMERICA anymore? Yes, Rossi's cute and charming. No, he is NOT the lawmaker that any self-respecting citizen would ever, EVER want running any show, beyond 'The Sopranos'.
I'm rather torn. I voted for Gregoire, but she has not done a darn thing to improve our lives in WA! The WASL has taken over our educational system, and our dropout rate in schools is getting extremely out of hand! The roads are terrible, gas prices are 3rd highest in the country (ahead of us are California & Hawaii) and our lives are not better off than they were before--they're WORSE! Then again, that is also partially due to the big ol' GOP who lives in the White House and his warmongering cronies. I'm not sure if I want to vote for Rossi. So far, he hasn't said one way or another how he would fix the mess that our Washington is in--the education, the gas prices, our poor cost of living. From what it looks like, Rossi is in the running as a form of revenge, a way of saying "I told you I'd beat you!" should he win the Gov's office from Gregoire. It's time to dump the GOP and the Dems. We need a 3rd candidate that WILL WORK FOR THE PEOPLE OF WA, not big business or bigwigs who don't give a rat's behind about the "little people."
Like so many political races... no GOOD choice. Gregoire has done some impressive things (but impress who, her own political image?). Rossi is no real substantial choice. I voted for Gregoire last time with HUGE misgivings, but knew at least she was competent and serious about her job.
I'm not sure how we can address some of the serious issues our state faces -- crumbling infrastructure, failing schools (teachers need better pay or they leave!) an economy that is good as long as you are in the I-5 corridor (but Heaven help you if not!), rising fuel prices, clogged roads, environmental decay, HEALTHCARE, meth... is any one person, or even all of us collectively up to that job? I'd like to, truly like to meet the person who feels like they could! (cuz either they are delusional or visionary and both are entertaining at least!)

Last election was four months away from my 18th birthday. I watched both campains carfully. I watched as Dino Rossi continued to back George Bush's failing war. I then watched as Rossi tried to put a stop to a hand recount, a recount entitled to Gregoire by Washingtons election process. Similar to the recount Mr. Gore should have recieved in Florida. But I didnt here Mr Rossi stand up and criticize the election process in 2000. And when there was voter supresion in Ohio, Mr. Rossi did not request a re-vote their either. I will be 21 by the next election, and I will be casting my vote for Christine Gregoire, a governor who has served our great State well!
If we have such a HUGE surpluss why do we need more taxes to build roads? Is a lot of money in the bank, but bad roads, bridges and schools, make any sense?
