Wisdom of our fathers

1:52 PM Fri, Jun 16, 2006 |

An invitation to share your stories on this Father's day weekend.
Pity any author on a book tour. We see them all the time. By the time they get out to Seattle, they're on auto-pilot and sleep-deprived, telling the same story for the four-hundredth time to promote their book. But when Tim Russert visited KING-TV, his enthusiasm on the topic of fatherhood appeared genuine. He told stories from sons and daughters from across the country--many of which I had read or heard him relay in other settings--but it was as if he were telling them for the first time. His passion for igniting a nationwide discussion about fathers is refreshing and contagious.

Here's an open invitation to share your memories of dad--special lessons, wisdom or just simple things he passed along through the years. Russert finds many kids and fathers don't express their feelings that easily. Perhaps it's easier on a blog. Happy Father's day everyone.

Weekend fishing trips, camping near Mount Rainier. Long talks about any subject I was curious about are just some of dad did for me. The number 1 thing my dad did for me was to give me the belief of God, my Father and my Dad are the most important of my life. Last year when I turned 21 my dad gave me the family Bible, I am so blessed.
