I know some people have their cats trained not to sit on furniture, but not us. Don't judge. Though I do love any chance to get some use out of our Miele vacuum cleaner, I don't always feel like dragging it out for a quick cat hair run. Could this new product from Pledge be my savior? Surprisingly I must admit that the Pledge Fabric Sweeper actually works great and is super easy to use. The construction is fairly simple. It's just two textured rollers next to each other, attached to a clear plastic dome that catches and holds the hair. A swift side to side motion is all you need to make it work. I wouldn't use it for my main mode of pet hair removal, but for a quick pass before company comes, it's definitely worth $5. My only gripe is that I am supposed to throw it away when it's full. Full, according to the box, is when "it picks up no more hair." Most likely I will ignore the warning on the box telling me not to try to empty the sweeper and reuse it. Otherwise I'd probably need to get a new one every few weeks. I love it. It works better than my vacuum, even with the sweeper bar. My cat likes to sleep in the top corner of my bed near my head. You can't vacuum the sheets, but you can definitely use the sweeper on them. And after a cuddle, it works on your lap as well. I agree, though. It shouldn't be disposable (although, I've had one for a couple months and at this rate, I think it'll go for another. I guess I can afford $20 a year).
I love this product; it works on our duvet cover and the nap stations. I quickly broke the rules about not emptying it: I used the vacuum hose to suck all the hair out, and it's as good as new. It's even easier if you haven't misplaced the narrow hose nozzle, which I have.
I saw a double pack at WalMart, I think, for approx $8.50. I don't know how many times I'll be able to vacuum the hair out, but I should be able to prolong its life for awhile. It works extremely well, and there's less vacuum trauma.
Miss Wahoo,
Great idea about the using the vacuum to get the hair out of the sweeper. I'm definitely going to try that!
The idea of tossing it after one use is horrifying...and clearly thinking that the ease of use (and great results) will mean folks will actually not THINK before they toss. I LOVE the vacuum cleaner idea and will make sure to tell anyone I know who has the Pledge Fabric Sweeper to VACUUM it to empty it, don't toss it.
Those great ideas will help our planet get Green and..keep the hair of our beloved cats off the chair for at least one day ! :)
I have 2 ferrets and their fur is extremely difficult to clean up. It sticks to everything. Sticky rollers and vacuums have done a pretty good job, but never gets all the ferret fur. This product is AWESOME. It manages to pick up all the fur! I'm sold... I'll always keep this product in my home!
I think it is great, however it doesn't work all that well on my couch. I think it is the fake micro swede on my couch that makes it not work well, not the product itself. I like the idea of cleaning of the bed and the vacuuming out the hair to reuse. It drove me nutts that I was going to have to throw it out after one use, I wouldn't have bought it if I had known!!! Thanks for the tip!
