MEDICAL UPDATE ON MARINERS DESIGNATED HITTER KEN GRIFFEY JR.
SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik issued the following medical update on designated hitter Ken Griffey Jr.
Griffey, 39, had surgery today on his left knee in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Timothy Kremchek performed the arthroscopic surgery, removing a bone spur from the left knee in an outpatient procedure. Normal recovery time from this type of surgery is four to six weeks.
