Ever since Alain Vigneault took over as head coach, he's presided over a team with an identity crises. Did they still want to be the old West Coast Express style team with a Morrison/Bertuzzi/Naslund type of line leading the way? Or a team built on defense, goaltending, and a punishing physical style that has left plexiglass burns and a little blood on the faces of a few opponents.

I'm glad they gave Vigneault an extension, he earned it for carrying a team who's all-star goalie missed half the season, then rallying them in the spring to another division title.

In an era where NHL teams are changing players and coaches like you and I change socks, it's good to see the organization keep its head coach and key players. Let us see if it translates into more playoff success.
