The Erik Bedard trade to Seattle was a mess to begin with. Orioles owner Peter Angelos had to clear the deal and it was up in the air for about 3 weeks and former Mariners GM Bill Bavasi forgot what a Farm System was for.
The real key I think may end up being pitcher Chris Tillman. True, he's been knocked around a bit since being called up from the Minors this season, but Tillman's potential for down the road trumps, trumpted, and will continue to trump anything Bedard has done for Seattle. With his pending surgery, Bedard's days in Seattle are pretty much over, unless his offseason price is so low that he gets re-signed. M's General Manager Jack Zduriencik has a history of helping to bring in veterans who've been plagued by injury, if, and pretty much only if, they can also add some leadership to the clubhouse. Bedard won't bring enough for 2010. I was critical of this trade in the beginning but M's fans were screaming about how winning "now" was the most important thing. Can we all finally agree this trade was bad? 2 Comments |
well i think its time to let him go it was a waste of a trade, but that dont surprise me has far has who made it, if eric does come back hes only going to be good has a left hander out of the bullpen come on, he cant pitch without getting hurt so if he want to pitch well thats the best he going to get .
