WHL: Everett Silvertips host Stanley Cup Game 7 Party

11:56 AM Wed, Jun 10, 2009 |

(UPDATE: Silvertips stars Kellan Tochkin, Thomas Heemskerk among those attending tonight's Game 7 party at Sporty's Beef & Brew. More info below)

This has been an amazing Stanley Cup Finals, especially for fans of the defending Cup champions, the Detroit Red Wings and repeat challengers, the Pittsburgh Penguins. Every time it seemed that the Red Wings had it wrapped up, the Penguins stepped up to show that it's no fluke that they are in these finals for a second straight year.

After being spanked, 5-0, Saturday night at the Joe, the Pens battled back on home ice at the Igloo to win Game 6 by a score of 2-1 and force a 7th and decisive game. Game 7 takes place Friday, June 12 at 5pm on NBC. But the Everett Silvertips have a better way for you to watch the game!

The 'Tips are hosting a party Friday at Sporty's Beef and Brew in Everett. Their Game 3 party last Tuesday was a rousing success and the team expects even more fans to show up and sport their colors- whether red and white or black and gold!

You can view the Silvertips' invitation below, or get more information at their website: www.everettsilvertips.com.

I'll be there, sporting the black and gold of my beloved Pens!
Stop by and say "hi".

Everett Silvertips News Release
Everett, WA - Can you believe it, 'Tips Fans?
It's time for the most exciting night in sports - a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals!

Pittsburgh. Detroit. One game to determine the entire season.

Because of this special occasion, the Silvertips will be hosting a special Game 7 Party at Sporty's Beef and Brew on the evening of Friday, June 12, where we'll be watching the grand finale on the drop down projection screen.

We had a terrific turnout for our Game 3 Party at Sporty's, with many fans leaving happy with prizes and autographs in tow. Game 7 will be no different - we'll be cleaning out our closet and giving away several fantastic prizes to the fans who attend.

As always, players and Silvertips representatives will be on hand to sign autographs and chat with fans. Make sure to continue checking www.everettsilvertips.com, This Week in Silvertips Hockey, and the Silvertips' Twitter feed (WHLsilvertips) for updates, including who will be attending.

Are you and the Silvertips going to have to watch the game on CBC Friday? Because I sure didn't see Game 6 on KING 5 Tuesday. I'm in Olympia on Comcast and would greatly appreciate an explanation as to why we were denied coverage.

Yes, exactly right Brendan!

Why no Stanley Cup finals game six on KING 5? I dare say no station would ever consider doing that to any other league, or any other scheduled network sporting event!

As usual local hockey fans get a slap in the face ... reminds me of the "Preakness Game" a couple years ago, when the deciding NHL Eastern Conference OT game from which the network cut away, for pre-race coverage of the Preakness ... unbelievable!

KING 5 would have missed out on the Stanley Cup if Detroit had won last night. So what's the plan for the deciding game seven ... relagated to KONG again? Honestly, CBC's coverage is superior anyway, so hopefully Grapes and boys will be on at Sporty's. Maybe see you there ... and GO PENS!!!

You both make very excellent points.
Game 6 was aired on KONG 6/16.
Game 7 will also air on KONG 6/16.

I don't know whether Sporty's will air NBC or CBC's coverage on Friday. I will certainly make sure they know that the game will air on KONG 6/16 instead of KING 5 and give the managers the option of taking that or CBC's coverage.

If you have further questions or concerns, please email me: sring@king5.com

Thanks again- and GO PENS!
