Ask the Sounders

11:46 PM Mon, Jun 01, 2009 |

If you've always wanted to ask a pro athlete a question, but never could? Well now is your chance to do it. We call it "Ask the Sounders." It's your opportunity to ask the coaches or players a question about the game or anything else. We will take the top 3 questions. So put your questions in the "Comments" section.

We'll "Ask the Sounders" your questions sometime this week for Sunday June 7th show. Sounders FC Weekly airs Sundays at 10:35 p.m. on KONG-TV.

For any Sounders FC player (perhaps several):

On a scale of 1 to 10 what was the degree of difficulty of Nate Jaqua's beautiful goal against the Columbus Crew on May 30, 2009 ?

For Adrian H.:

What positive recommendation do you plan on telling the MLS Commissioner about how to improve the quality of the refereeing in the league. It is so bad, that it is hard to rationalize buying a ticket to watch some hack referee mistakingly decide a match.

Second question for Adrian H.:

For example, Is the MLS league office ever going to ask the referees to issue fouls or yellow cards in instances of excessive diving or flopping (bad acting). It is so bad that it is hard to rationalize buying a ticket to watch phoney baloney players wimping out. It might be easier to stay home and watch men play ice hockey on television.

Third question for Adrian H. or Drew C.: Is there an established process to release a portion of Council / Alliance meeting notes to the general Alliance membership? The elected representatives tend to be a bit secretive.

Note to King-5 Kong-6-16. Feel free to edit the length of my questions for clarity. Keep up the good work. Really enjoy the HDTV away game coverage. Outstanding !

Respectfully,

For anyone,
-What was the most memorable game you ever watched, club or national? A game where you were not suited up to play in, but you were a spectator, either in person or on TV.

-Many sports have those classic games, classic match ups, epic victories, or under dogs over achieving. With youTube, the viewers could search out the highlights from these memorable match ups.

Here is a positive and constructive question for Adrian H.:

At a recent charity event, Coach Sigi emphasized the nifty video tools he uses to prep the team.

Have you thought about making a brief 22 minute video "Inaugural 2009 Seattle Sounders FC" sports DVD available on about December 15, 2009 ?

KING-5 KONG-6-16 BELO corp. has lots of great footage. They could show it on TV about March 10, 2010 to get everybody reved up for the second season.

You even have a great band to provide bump music for intro.

Lots of action. There is lots of action in Futbol-soccer. We sports fans could give copies to casual sports fans (who someday soon could fill the upper bowl in Summer 2010).

What do you say, Adrian ?

For the PK shooters:

Fans were wondering...is it helpful, or distracting when we get loud during your penalty kicks in the box?

For Sigi:
Are we going to see many different formations this year? 3 up top with Jaqua, Montero, Seba would be unstoppable. How are you going to get Seba on the field more?

Matt said:

For Adrian or Sigi:

With Marcus Hahnemann no longer at Blackburn, is it a possibility to bring home another Washington native goal keeper?

Michael Wong said:

For Kasey Keller:
How often do you go through keeper gloves and do you have any tips on glove care?
Thanks,
Mike

To Sigi or any of his staff. Vital Statistics that may help.

What percentage of all free kicks have produced shots on goal, and what percentage of Keller's long punts have resulted in immediate turnovers?

Les said:

for Kasey...
Obviously, your reflexes are still quick. I am a 60yr old who started playing tennis at 50. I am having problems volleying at the net during doubles because of the quickness.
What exercises can you recommend for me to practice so my reaction will be quicker?
Thanks!

For Ownership: Given the current distress and loss of programming at Setanta Sports in U.K. and Ireland ... do you see an opportunity to expand the global reach of Sounders FC by getting your club on satellite pay-TV in U.K. and Ireland soon ?

For Freddie:
Why do you act like such a truculent bitch so often?

james said:

Bryan,

If you use the term "truculent bitch", you are one.

For Adrian:

Why is it that the Sounders are not selling Kasey Keller goalkeeper jerseys?

Keller mentioned in his blog it was due to "limitations with the Adidas gear and MLS." Did MLS not license the right to sell them? Or was this a Sounders FC decision? Adidas goalkeeper kits are available for some of the European clubs, so it doesn't seem to be an adidas issue.

I, and many others, would love to be able to buy an official Keller goalkeeper kit. I hope you will work to make those available soon to your fans.

Otherwise, thank you and keep up the great work!

Sincerely,

Garth

Question for Adrian:
Were the Sounders in the discussion at all with San Jose for Cam Weaver?

Keegan McAdam said:

For Nate Jaqua, When the become an MLS team in 2011 do you plan to play for them our do you plan to stay with seattle?

Keegan McAdam said:

Question for Nate Jaqua:
When the Portland Timbers become an MLS team in 2011 do you plan to play for them so you can be closer to your family or do you plan to stay with Seattle?

Scott K said:

For Lisa Gangal:
Why haven't any of the US Open Cup games been televised locally yet? Can we expect that the third round match with our rivals down in Portland will be on KONG?

Neil D said:

For Montero:
You started out the season great, but have recently been doing not so well. The game against N.E. was horrible, just a bad day for you, why do you think so?

- Who would you prefer to play in the first round of the playoffs? Who do you most want to avoid?
- It seems like the MLS referees allow a more physical style of play than those in Europe. Do you like this? Does this make soccer more fun to watch, or less?
- Kasey Keller, you're so awesome. Will you be my BFF?

Tom Eggerding said:

For Brad Evans,

When you guys warm up before a match, I see you play a little game in a circle where players around the outside of the circle pass, and players in the middle defend. What are the rules of this warm up game?

Stephanie Daud said:

For Sigi: In preparation for an away game on a pitch like KC's (where the dimensions are so different from Qwest), do you alter the size of our practice field?
