The Storm left sunny Seattle (it sounds weird saying that) today for the "City that Never Sleeps." And not only are they enjoying the hot sunny desert, but they're doing it in style. Sue Bird told us the Maloof brothers were kind enough to put the ladies up at "The Palms." Swanky!
The women have scrimmages in Las Vegas on Thursday. Other teams travelling to Sin City are Phoenix and Sacramento. Since the WNBA trimmed the roster from 13 to 11 players, it seems as though this is an extra opportunity for the "bubble" players to prove they deserve a roster spot. Head coach Brian Agler said, "we'll use it (the scrimmages) more as an evaluation." That means many of the sure starters probably won't see much playing time in these scrimmages.
Tanisha Wright, Sue Bird, and other "expected" starters will play in Phoenix on Saturday. Agler says he'll use that final preseason game as a tune-up for the real thing calling it their "last dress rehearsal." The season tips off Saturday, June 6th when Sacramento comes to Key Arena.
