The first WNBA champions are no longer. WNBA President Donna Orender says the Houston Comets will shut down operations. The league took the team over earlier this year and tried to find a new owner. After they failed to secure one, the league decided to shut it down. Here's a more in-depth article from a Houston TV station. It's shocking that a team with that kind of history (the first 4 WNBA titles) can go by the way side.
