Giving up seven passing TDs and only having one interception usually creates some changes in the secondary. This week, Kelly Jennings has been replaced in the starting defense by Josh Wilson. Injuries nonwithstanding, changes need to be made: Right now the Seahawks are 27th in the NFL in total defense. They allow six yards per pass. Only KC, Denver, St Louis, and Detroit give up more. Here's what Mora had to say yesterday about the changes: "Number one, we want to get Josh more reps because he's worthy of more reps. Number two, Kelly had a mild concussion and maybe a little bit of a stinger Sunday on the seventh play and didn't come back then. And in the second game he broke the rib, so he's a little beat up. It's a long season. We've got 12 games to go. So we want to make sure we're prudent in how much we put him out there and expose him when he's not 100 percent."Neither is a Seahawks defense that returned 11 starters. In four games the Hawks have given up 17 pass plays of plus-20 yards. And who's coming to town this weekend? The Packers. The team that started the D's downward spiral. Whether a wounded Tatupu, Trufant and a replacement in the secondary can enact revenge, the 12th Man will have to wait and see. One bright gem: GB is only 23rd in the NFL in rushing. |
