According to Fox Sports, Giants WR Plaxico Burress has been suspended for two weeks for failing to show up for practice on Monday and not returning phone calls. Like Seattle, the Giants are in the middle of a bye-week so Burress only misses one game (but two weeks of salary). Imagining Plax darting among the Seahawks banged up secondary in NY was enough to give the 12th Man nightmares. A few weeks from getting a massive new $35-million contract, Burress so far has 18 catches for 259 yards and one TD. Last season, he had 70 receptions for 1,025 yards and 12 TDs. And...two weeks to think about it. No word yet on Plax's excuse.

Two other NFL items of note today: In the NFC West, the Rams demoted Mark Bluger from the starting QB spot. Trent Green will start Sunday vs. the Bills.

And ESPN is reporting that Matt Millen was finally let go. Millen had a woefully inept run as Lions team president. In fact, the Lions went 31-84 under his control. Can't you just picture thousands of Lions' fans walking around right now, smiling and high fiving?
