Much ado about an Idaho cheerleader uniform

10:01 AM Thu, Sep 25, 2008 |

You know it's a Seahawks bye-week when a story like this gets so much attention in the Northwest. But the Idaho cheerleaders are causing more of a fuss than the Vandals giving up 70 points in their season opener to Arizona, or losing to Western Michigan and Utah State by a total of 48 points. Now, the cheerleader who designed the squad's scandalous new uniforms has resigned in the wake of all the national attention. Uniforms, the cheerleader said, which were meant to "Promote physical fitness."

Shelly Robson, an adviser to the spirit squad, said some cheerleaders found the uniforms unflattering and uncomfortable. The Dean of Student affairs even said some fans complained. But he added, "To be fair, there were a number of fans who liked them."

Losing by 70 points hurts. But does it hurt as much as these uniforms? If you want to see more of the outfits, click here, here or here (the second link is a site that requires registration).

The school spent $4,200 on the first set of uniforms. Replacements, with a less revealing top and a longer skirt (ordered on $2,200 in private money), will arrive by Oct. 4th.
