Right now I would have to say Jeb Putzier (which he said the other day is pronounced putz-ear as he pointed up at his ear) has looked the best all-around. He's a strong blocker, has soft hands and is a really good rout runner. He also has a good amount of experience in the league. During Putzier's final two years with the Broncos, 04 and 05, he had 73 catches for over 1,000 yards.

Plus I'm sure everyone saw his pre-season touchdown vs. the Vikings instead of the Olympic ceremony, at least that was really him.
A lot of the buzz around the position is centered on John Carlson who the Hawks took in the second round this year. It's clear he is the guy the team picked as the future. He's a very solid all-around end, but appears to specialize in catching the ball. There is talk that he most likely will be the starter come game 1.
Of the four, Joe Newton might have the most difficult path to making the final roster. He has looked great as a receiver. He even caught Hasselbeck's eye today when the Quarterback yelled out at him twice, nice catch 46! Newton's biggest obstacle is blocking. It's hard to imagine that someone listed at 6-7 258 needs to get bigger, but that's exactly what Joe needs. I once heard someone say Joe is still growing into this body, and at times that shows.
Will Heller may not be as exciting as the other 3 players, but he's the best blocker out there, and at 6-6, 270 it's not hard to see why. He's the only guy returning from last year's team and has 6 starts under his belt.
Try Own Scmitt - he has size, hands, blocking skills and attitude.
