Now that the Sonics are gone, there are few choices for NBA fans as we all wait for the Schutlz lawsuit to play out. TNT? Or the Trailblazers. Ugh. As a longtime Sonics fan, I don't know if I can jump ship to the Blazers, as indicated by SeatownSports.net.
They are the Blazers, right? That team? The I-5 rivals? The former Jailblazers? Sure, the team is Paul-Allen-The-Savior owned. Brandon Roy is an ex-Husky and marvelous player. Greg Oden may very well one day rock the hardcourt. And Nate McMillian should NEVER have been allowed to leave the Sonics. But -- well, I...don't...know. Hm. Maybe...
So the question is posed: Could you, as a Sonics fan, start watching the Portland Trailblazers? What if they even played a few home games here in Seattle?
I think the question is when is Mr stern going to be investigated.
No offense to the folks down south, but no.
Most Sonics fans will be done with the NBA until our team is restored.
We also can't reward the NBA by letting them think they can abandon their fans and have them continue to support them.
They want us on board they need to do what it takes to earn us back.
I say support the Blazers. Paul Allen is a Seattle hero who would have saved the Sonics if he could have, and DID save the Seahawks when they were in a similar position as the dearly departed Sonics. I can't blame Mac 10 for leaving for Portland since he was dealing with Schultz, who also drove off Gary Payton. There are a lot of local ties with the Blazers and they are on the rise. It will be a long time before the Sonics return, so it's the Blazers and college basketball. Go Seahawks, I'll be spending my winters on the slopes anyway.
