On Sunday, the Mariners sent exec Duane Shaffer to New York check out Ken Griffey Jr. in Shea Stadium. Seems there is more interest for the aging outfielder than the team is letting on. Sure, it would bring excitement back to Safeco Field and sell some seats -- but is bringing Junior back a wise move? Conjecture is that Junior would likely be the designated hitter. But Griffey Jr. has let it be known he wants a World Series ring before retiring. The veteran also has the right to veto any trade. 7 Comments |
Bring back Jr. Bring back Sr. also.
As I posted before, I don't think its a wise decision to bring Griffey back.. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of re-living the glory days but since he's moved onto Cincy, he really hasn't done anything to prove that he can hit the way he used to. If the M's are serious about contending, we need a big bat and soon.. We need someone that will strike fear in a pitcher's eye like a big papi or manny ramirez..
Bring Junior back? YES.
But don't give away our future to get him.
Bring Ken Griffey JR home where he belong.
Look forwards, not backwards.
Griffey, Jr. will want too much and doesn't deserve the loyalty.
Did anyone see his visit last June? Of course he deserves our loyalty! His relationship with Seattle and the love for baseball he infuses into fans (even non-fans) is unmatched. Bring him home! Please!
Bring back Griffey? HA! The Mariners ball club is "NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN". Look how at their best season ever, they still haven't gone anywhere...Want more fans, "lower the ticket prices", "want to win more games"?, bring up a lot more of the "rookies" from the minors...look at the Rays & Marlins". The high paid veteran players aren't doing what they getting paid to do & the Manager? Not to mention the front office that made some of the dumbest moves made like getting rid of players who actually produce results..
