The rookies are done with their first mini-camp at Kirkland. The veterans will practice until Thursday. Here's a quick update on how the camp has gone so far:

No real consistency on the offensive line, with Jones and Spencer recovering from surgeries. Gray has been handling snaps, and Womack stepped in for Jones until his knees started to bug him. Kyle Williams and Will Robinson took turns filling in. Eventually, the line will be: Jones, Wahle, Spencer, Sims and Locklear. With a new coach, it'll be interesting watching these guys (and the running game).

Speaking of the running game, the TNT was commenting on how much quicker Julius Jones hits the line than Shaun Alexander had been. Something I'm sure the 12th Man will love to hear. As far as the wideouts, these next few days will be interesting, with Branch out, it's Engram and Burleson and then the experience trails off. Who will step up? Obomanu, Taylor and Logan Payne all have a shot.

Lastly, Olindo Mare and rookie kicker Brandon Coutu had a competition, watched by Ruskell. Mare hit 20 in a row. Also, Coutu has been working with Morten Andersen to improve his technique. All in all, plenty of spots on this team to keep an eye on.
