Best playoff matchup? Spurs-Hornets. Hands down.

9:17 PM Thu, May 08, 2008 |

If you're like me, you've been watching the NBA playoffs and yawning through most of it. Then Chris Paul comes along. If Seattle could be so lucky to get the Hornets, boy -- talk about a smoking hot point guard. I know, Kobe got MVP. But have you seen this kid play? Paul makes Duncan look old and slow, and we're talking about a former defensive player of the year.

Don't believe me? Haven't watched Paul? Do. Sunday. Don't have the time? Then set the DVR. Watch him dribble past Bowen, Parker, freeze Duncan and alley-oop to Chandler or West. I haven't seen a point guard play this good since John Stockton. Tonight, his Hornets lost to the Spurs. Sure, Paul looked tired in the fourth. But they're still up 2-1. And yes, the Spurs are pros among pros.

Check this out: Paul, 42 minutes, 35 points, nine assists, one turnover and one steal. CP3, as they're calling him, is controlling nearly the entire game, in only his third season in the NBA. He's averaging something like 24 points and 12 dimes. Shooting 50%. If you haven't had a chance to check out a playoff game, or if you're so ticked at David Stern you can't find the stomach to tune in ESPN or TNT, do.

Paul is worth it.
