Perusing an AP article about the Hawks, I saw that Matt had to forgo a trip to Disneyland with the wife and kids this week, staying in Kirkland to heal that oblique muscle. Shame. Quick quotes from the article, to satisfy any bye week craving: "The fact is we are leading the division," said coach Mike Holmgren. "I really believe our best football, particularly on offense, is ahead of us," he said. "Our defense is coming. They've shown flashes of being very good, and then sometimes where we can't do much on third downs, things like that." "It's going to get a little tense around here if I don't see some improvement," Holmgren said. The Hawks don't play a team with a winning record until Dec. 16th (Carolina). 4 Comments |
The Hawks need to develop a mean streak, and that starts at the top. Our play calling on both sides of the ball must be more agressive. Blitz packages and blocking schemes needs to get more nasty. We need to toughin' up. The window is still open, and the opportunity to go to the Super Bowl has never been bigger. Once we get there, anything can happen. I plan on watching the Hawks in AZ in Feb.
I agree 100% with that!! This season is far from over and it would really help the Seahawk's cause to start playing some smash mouth football, on a CONSISTENT basis. Seattle finished 13-3 when they went to Super Bowl XL, why not do the same this year? And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they have a nice long winning streak after the bye week that season? So, its entirely possible. The Seahawks should be able to accomplish that feat. A lot of the teams they play after the bye week, do not have winning records and that can only be viewed as a plus. Lets just hope they don't over look them like they did against the Saints. GO SEAHAWKS!!!!
We still have most of the season ahead of us. And though we could've done better I'm convinced we are going to find ourselves in the post season and that is a whole new ball game. Remember the year Pittsburgh 'beat' us? They were a wildcard team and went all the way. This year, they'll never see us coming!
I disagree with your comments about "smash mouth" style football... that is not our style. More blitz packages would work, if we are consistently playing with a lead. Our defense is small and agressive and by design should be quick to the ball or quaterback. However, our whole scheme is based around an "explosive" offence that should get us a lead and allow our D to do what they do. It's up to our line and running back to get things figured out. GO HAWKS ALL THE WAY!
