Seahawks have bigger goals in mind

12:03 AM Tue, Oct 25, 2005 |

After listening to the Seahawks the day after their big win, it's clear these guys have bigger goals in mind than beating the Cowboys and earning a week off. They have the second best record in the NFC at 5-and-2, and their next three games are very winnable - at Arizona, home against the Rams, and at hapless San Francisco. 8-and-2? Definitely within reach before a home game with the Giants, and a trip to Philly...

This Hawks team has a different mindset. Sure, it took some luck to pull out a win over Dallas in the last 40 seconds, but in year's past the Hawks would have rolled over in the clutch, instead of rising up.

This is a team that couldn't handle the praise heaped on them at the start of last season. I think the guys look back at that situation (starting 3-and-0 and stumbling to the finish), as a valuable lesson learned. It will pay big dividends this season.

Call me crazy but I think the game in Arizona is the most important game of the season.
It is a game we should win, in a walk.
BUT, we lost there last year and it is the week coming off of a bye. We are horrible coming off of the bye. WHY? To much time to plan? To much time to recover from injuries?
You would think that the week after a bye would be our week to shine... lets hope this year will be different. So far the Seahawks are looking different!!

Right, it's a fine line between keeping the faith (8 and 2!) and recognizing that "winnable" games can become tragedies.

I Don't know.... if Holmgren get his crap together then we could win. He needs to change some plays. Most of the plays are the same change it around.

I don't know, with the offensive line jelling and Matt and Shaun cruising, Holmgren's offense suddenly looks pretty darn good. What should the coach change to help the NFL's #1 offense against the Arizona's 15th ranked defense? This Seahawk team has never been in this position after the bye week, as far as I recall.
And the stat that stands out the most is the 'Hawks defense is now 10th in the league.
Hopefully the additions Ruskell has made will help Holmgren beat his own after-the-bye winless record.

Between the revitalized unity on the team and their confidence after the Dallas win, with awesome replacements no less, I think the Hawks will beat their division rivals in ARZ. Lets hope the Rams lose to Jacksonville this weekend as well.
