Pro Bowl guard Wahle visiting Seahawks

10:35 AM Wed, Feb 13, 2008 |

Inside the Panthers is reporting that former Pro Bowler, Panther and Packers guard Mike Wahle is in Kirkland today to visit Seahawks brass. Wahle played for Holmgren back in the Green Bay days of yore. Wahle was cut by the Panthers earlier this week. He suffered a torn labrum in 2006 while suiting up for Carolina. The 31-year-old Wahle played in the Pro Bowl in 2005. Releasing the 6-foot-6, 304-Wahle freed up cap room. Carolina reportedly owed him a $1 million roster bonus and $3 million base salary.

Now if Seattle can sign a few more like him, thats the main question. This guy could be a great pick up for the Seahawks. Hopefully Seattle can find a few other offensive linemen by this means, or via trades or by way of the draft. I think the Seahawks have a good chance then to focus on getting the running game back into gear. How about that guy from the Giants, 24 year old Brandon Jacobs anyone? He along with a good draft will then allow Seattle to run like they have in the past and still use the likes of Morris and Alexander when needed and to mentor, etc. The Seahawks would then have to focus on keeping DJ Hackett and then finding a replacement for Branch. On the defensive side of things, Seattle should try to retain Trufant and find some big densive linemen to take the place of Tubbs and help the likes of Darby, etc. If, IF, Seattle does those things, they should have a very successful year. An NFL network commentator stated that the Seahawks were, "One player away from going to the Super Bowl and winning it." I like that kind of thinking and hope this recent pick up takes Seattle in the right direction. GO HAWKS!!!!
