In case you haven't seen the blog lately, watched our KING5.com live stream on the Hawks presser, or been out of the country, the Seahawks have named Jim Mora as Mike Holmgren's successor in 2009. Unfortunately, Jim Mora isn't at the press conference (nor is Mike). CEO Tod Leiweke and President/GM Tim Ruskell are making the announcement. Ruskell says it's a four-year extension (five-year if you include 2008). Ruskell and Leiweke gave Holmgren a ton of compliments, mainly for announcing next season will be his last season and giving the franchise an opportunity to find his replacement very early in the process. Ruskell says the team, per the NFL rules, can sidestep the Rooney Rule if they have a "in-house" candidate/replacement. Ruskell heaped a ton of praise over Mora. By the way, they worked together back in Atlanta. The Hawks GM just goes over a laundry list of why Mora is qualified to be the next head coach. I'll link the presser when it's over. In the meantime, it's streaming live on KING5.com. |
