Mora withdraws name from Redskins job

Seahawks assistant head coach and secondary coach, Jim Mora, has pulled his name out of consideration for head coach of the Redskins. According to John Clayton at ESPN, Mora phoned Washington owner Dan Snyder today and said he wanted to stay in Seattle. Mora interviewed for the job on Wednesday and spent the night in Snyder's guesthouse. Mora reportedly told Synder he did not want to relocate his family so soon after leaving Atlanta.

Mora's agent, Bob Lamonte, told the Washington Post, "But at the end of the day family counts most and Jim has three children under the age of 12 and he idea of moving his family across the country for the third time in three years was just untenable." What does this mean for the Seahawks? I'd caution any speculation. Holmgren will make his mind up soon, regardless what Mora does. And having Holmgren and Mora both as coaches only makes the organization stronger.

What I read from this is Holmgren has decided to go. He hasn't told the public but probably told Mora he should stay put because there might be an opening for him soon. sigh. I'll miss Mike.

I don't see this as having any impact on Holmgren leaving. Only two people know what Mike is thinking at the moment and that is Mike himself and his wife Kathy. Anything else is pure speculative on our parts. Mora may just know that Holmgren may only be around for a season or two, ultimately being groomed as his logical replacement. Of course, time will soon tell.

I have to go with Senior Hawker here.

jay glasner stated before the GB/Giants game today that Mike told (GB) Koren Robinson it was time for him to ride off into the sunset at the conclusion of the GB/Hawks game.glasner also stated that alot of Mikes' assistant coachs had left the orginazation already ?????

Holmgren I think.. is bub-bye. He looks tired, fed up and frustrated most of the time on the sidelines and the post game press meetings are torture to watch. Even when they win it seems sort of a downer. I think being forced to be always upbeat, positive and politically correct is giving him real bad stomach problems on game day. He's been a good ol' boy but maybe its time to adios and lets give yet another former coach have a go at it. The Seahawks don't have this divine right to go to every Superbowl but it would be nice to show up at least a couple of more times than just once every thirty years.

Move three times in three years will small children? Been there done that! The life of a corporate nomad sucks! Good choice Mora.

Of course, he was probably waiting for Holmgren to announce his retirement, and that's not happening now. Maybe he can hold out for Ty's job at U-Dub.
