Expert picks, Seahawks at Packers
I commented on this yesterday, but as we glance at the national expert picks for the Seahawks v. Packers game it's worth rementioning. ESPN's Chris Berman told me at Seahawks HQ yesterday that he's picking the Hawks to win and go all the way. Football guru Peter King at SI, however, is picking Green Bay to win a close one, 23-20. King writes "I'd be more tempted to pick Seattle if I knew what to expect from its offense." Last night on HBO's Inside the NFL, Bob Costas and Dan Marino selected the Packers. Chris Carter and (don't be shocked) Chris Collinsworth like the Seahawks.
Right now the rest of the ESPN experts are all Packers. USA Today is 7-1, Green Bay. CBS Sportsline is tied 3-3, but they pick against the spread -- and I still feel like the 8-point gimme to the Packers by oddsmakers is insanely high.
Comments
The so called "experts" are clueless when it comes to picking games. When the Vikings were riding high during the season, all these experts were all over them. Then when the Redskins won for in a row, they jumped on their bandwagon. Simply put, let them all pick the Packers this week, because the majority of the time they have no idea what they are talking about.

Name one time when "football guru" Peter King sided with the Seahawks.

Two weeks ago he picked the Hawks to beat Atlanta, 17-13. But yeah, like all them East Coast "experts," no one gives the Hawks a chance. Go Hawks!

I wrote 'Seahawks' on one piece of paper and 'Green Bay' on another. I put both papers on the bottom of my Lovebird's cage. I came back an hour later and the 'Green Bay' paper was pooped all over and the 'Seahawk' paper was untouched. My Lovebird picks the Seahawks.

The Seahawks are playing better ball right now, period. Records don't matter, divisions don't matter, only three things, matchups, who's playing the best right now (Who cares what happened in week 5), and the final score. Seahawks by 10.

Though the Seahawks have been poorer on the road this season, what gives me hope is the way they played the Eagles when visiting them.
If they play the same way they did at Philly, we have a chance. If they play like they did in Pittsburgh, it will be a long day ... but Seneca might get his first playoff experience.

If anybody else feels like ranting about the experts and their disregard for the Seahawks, here's some more material for you. Don Banks has given his power rankings for the starting quarterbacks of the teams still in the playoffs.

Make special note of where he put Matt in those rankings.

Jeff, you're freakin' me out, man.

This in no way petains to your posted blog, it is only my shameless atempt to coin a term,or phrase, for the record. That prhase,or term would be for the move all of team players are involved in, known as the arm-lock. I propose it be know as the " Hawk Lock" That is all.

Jeff, are you sure your bird was picking the Seahawks? Birds do like to poop on bright colors, just ask my brother-in-law. He wore a blue hat with an 82nd Airborne patch on it and those birds hit the red everytime!
Also, that bird poop may have been his way of picking GB! Heck, if we couldn't talk or point, maybe we would just poop on the answer! I do hope your right though, even if it makes my playoff picks wrong.

No, I know my bird very well. When he is out with me and he has to poop, he actually flies somewhere else so he doesn't go on me. Very smart and empathetic little lovebird. He is definitely picking the Seahawks by pooping on Green Bay. Isn't that how you would do it? ;-) I think I should get him a tiny little Seahawks jersey. (Dear God am I losing it now!!!) Of all the lovebirds out there in the greater Seattle metro area, he is the biggest Seahawks fan bar none.
Btw, for the record, I like 'Hawk Lock.'

Greetings from Kansas City where there used to be a team here called the chiefs. I moved here from Seattle in Sept and have actually seen other Hawks caps and sweatshirts here. GO SEAHAWKS

well at least Don Banks didn't put Philip Rivers ahead of Matt.

hmmm..its funny Cris Collinsworth is jumpin on the Hawk's bandwagon. I think he feels stupid for picking the Rams to win the NFC WEST!
GO HAWKS!!! and much respect to Chris Berman!

oh..and Don Bank's is a fag!

ESPN's Sean Salisbury (the former Seahawk) is a tratorous putz that couldn't pick the Seahawks if they were the last team standing. What a guy! GO HAWKS!!!

I feel the Seahawks will win 34 to 27 in the game with the Packers on Sat the 12th. GO HAWKS!

Please delete cody's second remark and then this one as well. That remark is unnecessary, unprofessional, and offensive.

Packers are great at home and Hawks have a tough time on the road. Both great teams but GB has too many offensive targets and a strong running game. Sorry Hawk fans:( Packers 21 Seahawks 17
Posted by: NWPF | January 11, 2008 5:03 PM
I guess that I can guess what NWPF stands for and I will have to favor my Packers for more than one good reason. My only hope is that the Seahawk fans see how they are treated in GB and do the same next year during the home games. I say GB, but with a closer point spread, does anyone notice that they are both good teams?
PS, Cody is out of the box!
