The Starters Will Play
I just got off the phone with KING 5 reporter Chris Egan. He's over at Seahawks headquarters for their weekly presser. Egan tells me that Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren plans to play the starters like a regular game. As you all know, Hawks are locked into the #3 seed. They can't do better or worse, so the game in Atlanta is kind of meaningless. But don't say that to coach Holmgren. He doesn't want the sick feeling that comes with a loss. He felt it against Carolina two games ago. He felt that way 2 seasons ago when they played the Green Bay Packers. Holmgren wants to win. He wants momentum heading into the playoffs.
It's the right thing to do. You want to keep that chemistry going. Plus, you gotta build up that running game, because the Hawks will need it in the playoffs. Guaranteed, if the Hawks are killing the Falcons, coach Holmgren will pull key starters. And if you're worried about injuries, don't. Injuries happen whether it's week 2 or week 17. The Hawks need continuity, chemistry and momentum heading into the playoffs. Coach Holmgren is helping to assure that it'll happen.
