Seahawks Pro Bowl Snubs?

The Seahawks have 6 players named to the 2008 NFC Pro Bowl: QB Matt Hasselbeck, LT Walter Jones, DE Patrick Kerney, OLB Julian Peterson, MLB Lofa Tatupu, and CB Marcus Trufant. PR/KR Nate Burleson is an alternate. But did anyone get snubbed? You could make an argument for Bobby Engram.

The 34-year-old is on pace to have a career year. He's already surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career. Engram is only 2 catches away from Darrell Jackson's Seahawks reception record, 4 off Engram's personal best. Matt Hasselbeck's favorite receiver is also only 1 touchdown off his personal best. He's the NFC's third leading receiver in receptions - 7th in yards.

Dallas WR Terrell Owens, Cards WR Larry Fitzgerald, Packers WR Donald Driver, and Rams WR Torry Holt made the NFC Pro Bowl team. Saints receiver Marques Colston failed to make to roster too, despite being #2 in receptions and #3 in receiving yards in the NFC. So Engram shouldn't feel too bad.

But should Engram be voted in on his stats? One could even say he's a sentimental pick. Last season, Engram suffered through a thyroid condition that forced him to miss numerous games. Plus, did I mention that he's 34? In a league that likes to punish people on the field, you gotta give him credit to be able to hang with the youngster and take all those hits. 34 isn't old to you or me, but when you have 200 plus pound athletes wanting to take your head off every Sunday, those bumps and bruises add up. At 34 you don't heal as fast a 20-something year old. I guess what I'm trying to say is...Bobby Engram should be at least make the Pro Bowl as an alternate. If head coach Mike Holmgren says Bobby should be Pro Bowler, it's good enough for me.
