Glancing at the playoffs

The Seahawks clinched the third seed in the NFC by winning yesterday. The sixth seed will play Seattle in a wild-card playoff game here at the Qwest on Jan. 5th or 6th. The Redskins muddled the playoff picture yesterday by beating the Vikings, 32-21. With the win, Washington now leads the three NFC teams vying for that sixth seed: Redskins (8-7), Vikings (8-7) and, dangling on the post-season edge, the Saints (7-8).

You can get the complete NFL playoff scenario at ESPN. Basically, if the Redskins win the last game against the Cowboys, the team nabs the last playoff spot and comes to Seattle.

I truly think the Hawks will beat any of the 3 teams they may have to face, but you've got to admit this is a disadvantage because now this gives them less time to analyze their wild card opponent because they have no idea who it will be.

The Hawks would be pressing their luck against Dallas in Dallas. They will just have to prepare for all three possibilities. This should make them even stronger, in my opinion.

I like our chances no matter who we play or where we play. The two teams that almost beat the Patriots (eagles and Ravens) got beat by us. We handled the Ravens a lot better than the Patriots did. We're on a roll (minus last week) and we're clicking at the right time. I look forward to seeing the Hawks beat the Pack and the Boys at their place. Of course I'm hoping the Bucs or G-Men can beat Dallas so we can host the NFC Championship Game. Go Hawks and Merry Christmas to all.

Here is the thing, everyone is assuming the Pats are a shoe-in for the SuperBowl. I don't think they will make it. I think they will get beat by the Colts in Foxboro. That is going to be a great game.

A few people seem to be jumping the gun a bit talking about playing the Packers and Cowboys. If you sleep on any of the three teams we may play, they will beat us. Granted, after TO's injury and the Packers being destroyed this weekned, it looks bright for us in the playoffs. But don't forget about that division game or you'll be one and done.

It's posts like Scott's that perpetuate the image of the Seahawk fan as a latte swilling ignoramus. The Raven team you faced was not even close to the team that played the Patriots. For the Pats game, the Ravens were close to whole. For the Seahawks game, we were missing both starting cornerbacks and Ray Lewis on defense. On offense, we were starting our 3rd string rookie QB, 3rd string TE, and lost McGahee in the 1st quarter. I wouldn't be using this game as a barometer for the Seahawks playoff chances. Hasselback looked average against a weak secondary. Once Alexander runs for a loss, the boo birds will return (fair weather fans). Sorry Seattle...you might win the first playoff game (emphasis on "might"), but that's it. The other NFC playoff teams will stop your running game and Hasselback will deliver a couple picks and it's back to Starbuckistan for the 'Hawks. Sorry to have to rain on your parade. Oh...I almost forgot...congrats on beating beating Baltimore in football for the first time ever (Colts & Ravens).
