Ask Mike Holmgren
Most of you know the drill, but here it is again: It's Friday, which means time to ask Mike Holmgren. If you have question for the coach you can ask it, before or during the Ravens game, in the comments section below -- and be sure to include your first name and the city where you live. Then watch The Mike Holmgren Show hosted by K5's Paul Silvi, right after NBC's Sunday Night Football to see if coach Holmgren answers your question.

Coach, with nonrenewable resources quickly being consumed, do you feel that making hybrid vehicles the standard is an appropriate measure?

Coach, how hard are you going to fight or how much is the team willing to pay to keep the local hero, Tufant, in Seattle and with the Hawks?

Mike,
Have you thought about just using the passing game to get down the field then using mo and shaun for running when you are in the red zone. For play selection it looks like the best way to run with the offense is with a HB Off-tackle run and attack both sides to keep the defense guessing. For pass plays I think the best bet is to attack the first down line consistently and attack both sides of the field to keep the defense guessing as well. What do you think of this?

Hey coach, im sure your tired of hearing about the run game so ill try to avoid it this time. Have you had to rethink your draft picks since the unfolding of the season? Also, what kinds of things are you telling the team before big games to get them ready and focused?

I know you have ties to BYU, What is yyou r take on the Las Vegas Bowl this year that BYU is playing in and what is your thoughts on a possible winner?

Coach,
Why is the offensive line not getting the job done? Missed assignments or are you going to have to sign a FA or use a high draft pick to finally find a replacement for Hutch? Second question....How come we never see a QB sneak on a 3rd or 4th and 1? Watching alexander or morris get -5 is getting old. good luck in the playoffs!

2 questions.first why is there such a problem with consistancy on the O line? they go several weeks doing a good job protecting Matt and then, blam meltdown.it's unrealistic to expect they will win every game but if they can't perform at a level befitting a real superbowl contender what makes them think they are going to go very far in the playoffs?

Why do you keep giving the ball to shaun????? I think mo is the man. When shaun is out we win. I can't stand to see you give the ball to shaun. Please tell all the fans...Why do you keep giving the ball to shaun?????????

Coach Holmgren
In short yardage 3 or even 4th downs, why would you not get in say the I formation, make them think shaun or mo and have Weaver and his big body punish them up the gut... Seems to work best when you've tried it and it always works when i try it on madden:) Thanks

allright
why the the hell are you coach holmgren not useing each back - Equally i believe wever in shortt yrdage and mo on draws as well as counters could be afective use alexander off right and left tackel throw it deep to engim and cross routes to burlison slant and goes to branch as wellas quik slants coach do you think you can beat the cowboys or the packers in the play offs
defence hit hard you must hit hard do you agree coach your defence is under sized but fast that makes for big hits hit to hurt em knock em out try a fli flicker or a junk pass to wallice zone blits can be afective any go win dang it come on you hve the talent make it hapen

Coach,
Can you give us some insight to what goes on with you, the players, and coaching staff behind closed doors at halftime?

Coach,
Seeing Pittsburgh's Willie Parker go down with a season ending injury on Thursday nights week 16 game, does that change your mindset on resting some of your starters for the playoffs?

Coach,
As a lifelong Seahawks fan, I wanted my daughter to see a Sea vs Balt game with Ray Lewis on the field. Did it change your strategy at all knowing he would not play?

Coach,
Awesome play call on the 3rd touchdown-what is it called?-,Shaun really deserves that play and the touchdown. Hey boo-bird Hawks fans, that's why coach gives him the ball!
You're doing great Mike!!

Coach,
It seemed like Shaun was running better today than he has been. Why didn't you consider handing him the ball a little more in the first half?

Troy Smith is the 1st QB you've faced in a while that was a running threat. How did you prepare for that?

Coach, the broadcast was having some technical problems and the sound would cut in and out occasionally. Did the sound cut in and out for you on the field as well? If so, how did you handle it?

Coach,
Great game today. Two questions, will you think about resting the starters next week given Atlanta's record and to protect against injury going into the playoff's? Also Josh seems alot more comfortable with this new snapper. How do you feel about how things are working out there going into the playoff's.?

Coach, Are you going to rest your starters next week or play them?

Coach,
On 3rd and 1(or inches) why is it we do not do a quarterback sneak?
Posted by: Tim | December 23, 2007 4:51 PM
Mike,
Why on 3rd and short do you call a run play with the RB 5 yards behind Matt? Over the past five or six games it has only worked 2-3 times. It doesn't seem to make sense, turning a 3rd and 1 into 3rd and 6. Can you explain the logic behind these calls?
Thanks-Brett

In regards to the post by Larry, are you not aware Shaun has been injured and still has a cast on part of his left hand. Yes, Mo has done a great job and should get more touches than he has, but people need to lay off the criticizing of #37. If he was at 100% and playing the way he has this season I'd agree, but he's injured so cut him a break...and hopefully he'll be fully healed come playoff time and show all the nay-sayers that he still can get the job done.

two questions.... why after warm ups and the team breaks the huddle to head to the locker room why is peterson always the last man is it a superstition thing?? also why so conservative at the end of the game not even half way through the 4th run the score show us THE 12th MAN you can close the door shut!!!!!!!
Posted by: mike | December 23, 2007 6:09 PM
Mike, do you feel like the running game may have turned the corner this week, or would you say the Ravens' injuries played more of a role?
Posted by: Matt Heil | December 23, 2007 6:30 PM
Carl in Tacoma,
You make life worth living.
(so does Mike McCarthy.)
Posted by: Green Boy, in Fandom | December 24, 2007 8:52 PM
Hey Brett, If he is injured Then keep him off the field and let someone else that is 100% play so we can get some production. #37 sucks and that is how I feel. If you like him that is your right. If I think he sucks that is mine. So kiss my A__!!!!
