With the Hawks DT woes, it's logical for fans to wonder if the recently cut ex-Falcon Grady Jackson is in the minds of management in Kirkland. As the TNT noted, assistant head coach Jim Mora is the perfect candidate to tell Ruskell if the 35-year-old, 350 pounder is worth picking up (last year, Grady led the NFL with 13 tackles for a loss. This season, he has 5 1/2 tackles for a loss, and one sack). Word today has the Titans interested. Grady himself has made it known he'd like to stay in the division. Note: Jackson filed a lawsuit against Atlanta in the off-season, claiming the release of his medical records (the fact he failed a physical last summer) hurt his value as a free agent. The suit was settled before training camp. 5 Comments |
Well, I'm not so certain that would be the best acquisition. Ironically, I make that assumption simple based on age. I think we simple have too many players over the age of 30 and it is time to nurture some up-and-comers. Sure, nothing beats experience but this season and next season are not the last seasons the Hawks will ever play. We want to be contenders in the long run too!
Jackson would be a great pickup. Everyone knows our defense, at the point of attack, up the gut is suspect at times. We are much better when we can chase sideline to sideline because of our speed. If we can get this guy to fill the gap (ie. sorely missed Marcus Tubbs) it could be the piece of the puzzle we are lacking on the Hawks D. As for the long run. He is 35 and will need to be spelled on many occasions which will leave plenty of snaps for the up and comers. And remember these are snaps that were going to be Old Man Darby's anyways. Cmon hawks, get in the fight. Seattle fans have watched Seattle ownership (M's, Sonics, Hawks) sit on their hands far too many times!!
I aggree with ant. This would be a great pick up for us and would still allow the young guys to get into the game. We have Marcus Pollard, why not this guy?
Hey that guy up there wasn't me. Some imposter out there.
We would be absolutely insane not to look at this guy, look at the saints game and tell me we dont need a run stopper up the middle. With tubbs out for another year, and multiple other injuries, this is the pickup the hawks are looking for who cares about his age, not like we have to sign him to a 8 year/67 million dollar contract or anything. We all know Ruskell was a fool to sign shaun for so long. I think if you give him two years with some incentives, he's would be ours.
