Top Ten: #9 Turnovers

4:31 PM Thu, Oct 25, 2007 |

Watch any football game, at any level, and one can quickly surmise how important turnovers are to the game's outcome. As one climbs from Pee-Wee to high school, and up to college and professional football, the number of possessions in a game become more and more precious and critical. If you can win the turnover battle, and give yourself one, two or three more possessions in a game, the oppportunity to win really grows. The 2007 Seahawks are currently +7 in the turnover margin. In the Super Bowl year of 2005, the team ended the season +10.

A positive turnover margin usually equates to an aggressive defense forcing fumbles and interceptions, and an offense that takes care of the ball and makes good decisions at critical times. Seattle is doing just that, and if they continue to win the turnover margin they have an opportunity to kick-start a great second half push. Oh, by the way, the two teams ahead of SEA this year in turnover margin, a couple pretty good squads: Indianapolis (+9) and New England (+8).

Well, I think this only proves that we need to turn the ball over more if we want to get better!

And what's more, I am probably a hell of a lot better looking than you. So try coming up with an original screen name and stop using mine! Oh, I take that 3rd grade comment back. Even a kindergartner knows more football than you seem to. I'd recommend football for dummies, it's at Barne's so go get a copy.

It seems to be there are three or more 'Senior Hawkers' out there. I guess I'll just take that as a compliment.

Play nice! you old guys.
Holgram shuld either let the QB call the plays or get another coach to call'em. His play calling leaves a lot to be desired.

When will Mike quit making excuses for the players??? I get sick of hearing about all of the excuses or do we need another coach that will stop listening to all of this crap. After the players get their large salaries it seems then this start happening. He said back off on some of them but who is the one that tells them to start playing good ball. I can stay away from the games if they don't improve and maybe others will join me to see some changes on the team. Ed
