Before I head off to today's press conference, a quick glance at this week's power rankings. First off, odds versus the Niners. The Hawks are currently ahead by 2.5 points. The Hawks are on also the rise in the national eye this week. ESPN has the team in 7th, with the Packers and Cowboys the only two teams in the NFC with a higher position. CBS Sportsline places the Hawks 8th, but adds Carolina as one of the better conference teams. USA Today has the team rising to 6th. Take away the Cardinal Sin, and the Hawks could arguably by first or second in the NFC. But we'll surely see a big tumble from the (large market leaning) nat'l spotlight, if the Hawks can't win in SF.
