If Tubbs were to participate in camp, then get hurt, if the Hawks were to put him on the PUP, he would be lost for six weeks of the season. If he hits the injured reserve list, he's gone for the season. With Tubbs on the PUP before camp, he can come off when he's when and if he's healthy enough. Who knows if Tubbs will healthy enough to play again. Tubbs just had microfracture surgery on his left knee. I gotta believe there is some doubt, amongst the Hawks, whether he'll ever play again. But Seattle has stuck with him for this long, they might as well keep him around in case his knee responds.
