Hamlin to Visit Dallas

7:19 PM Tue, Mar 20, 2007 |

NFL.com reports that S Ken Hamlin is going to visit Dallas on Wednesday. Adam Schefter calls it a perfect match. Dallas needs a veteran safety and Hamlin needs a team. Paired with Roy Williams, the Cowboys could field a tough hitting crew that would make receivers hear footsteps all day long...as long as they don't ask Hamlin to tackle, they should be fine.

hi i just wanted to say here we go again its like the mariners they get rid of all the good players and we have 10 years or less to have a championship team again.

I'm a Dallas fan. We're supposed to look at Hamlin and I wanted to get an idea of what he does best and not as well.

I've read he's more of a SS and also he's a cover safety. You implied he's not much of a tackler.

We're looking for a cover safety; a true FS. Does Hamlin fit the bill?

And what's the story on his health?

Thanks.

First of all what are the Hawks thinking, why let Ken Hamlin go? He is one of our best in the safety/secondary position. If the Hawks let Hamlin go, there goes our season for the rest of the NFL to attack the Hawks in a passing game. Give him a CONTRACT and let's move on to work on other positions that are in need of major help. I would hate to lose Ken Hamlin to the Cowboys, they are one of our rivals in the NFC. I rather lose him to another team maybe in the AFC insted. Hamlin has earned his spot to keep his job and position as a Real Seattle Seahawk. You have to put in work to be a real Hawk in seattle and he is one of the many that have done that, so Tim Ruskel or Paul Allen let's give Ken what he deserves A New Contract.

Ken Hamlin is a solid safety, but he was a part of the problem in our secondary last season. Blown coverages, biting on crossing routes, and missing tackles. He is not worth the money he wants. Besides Deion Grant is better than Hamlin all around. He will be a "Real Seattle Seahawk" right away. We have better a better secondary now then we have had in a long while.

Ken Hamlin is a pretty good run stopping safety but he sucks in coverage. Why do you think we did so good in 2005, he wasn't on the field that's why. All he did last year was get burned all over the place. Add on the fact that he spends too much time trying to make a big hit and usually misses or gets a penalty and I say let him go to Dallas. At least we wouldn't have to worry about the Cowboys if it happens. Roy Williams and Hamlin both suck in coverage so teams will be throwing the ball all over the place. Hell, even Eli Manning will look like a superstar against that duo. We're better off now that we have Grant back there to cover and Boulware can stop the run. Trufant will be back and Jennings will have a year under his belt. The best thing we could have done to help the secondary was not to let Manual go to the Packers. He's the one that should have gotten a contract but we let him go. I do like our chances to make a return trip to the big game with the additions we've made so far. As for Hamlin, I hope he likes the heat and tornados in Dallas.

Hey Michael, I've gotta agree with Bryan and Scott. The knock on Hamlin is that he's not the best in coverage. He's a big hitter, but he needs to do a better job of wrapping up the guys with the football. Hamlin also made a few boneheaded personal fouls throughout the season last year. I think the team wanted a little more leadership out of him, too. Give credit to the Seahawks, they stuck with him after the fight down in Pioneer Square. The NFL is an ugly business at times. They could have let him go. I'm sure the front office wishes nothing but the best for Ken, but he'll have to do it elsewhere. Thanks for your comments.
