Engram Visits New Orleans

5:16 PM Tue, Mar 13, 2007 |

Unrestricted free agent Bobby Engram is visiting the French Quarter today. OK, not the French Quarter, but he's visiting the Saints. Matt Hasselbeck's favorite receiver (though not statistically, just verbally by Matt) is free to sign anywhere. It would be hard to believe that Hasselbeck isn't pressing the Hawks to re-sign him. But Seattle has a full stable of receivers. The New Orleans situation isn't much better. They have 3 talented, but young wideouts (Marques Colston, Terrance Copper, Devery Henderson). Plus, last year's number one pick, Reggie Bush, will certainly catch more balls. And the just signed free agent TE Eric Johnson (he caught 82 passes in '04). Not trying to poo-poo Engram's future success, I'd just rather have him be successful in a Hawks uniform.

Bobby engram is one of the Hawks top reciever, Why let him go? Give him a contract. D.Branch will most likely take his spot if Engram decides to leave seattle. DJ Hacket and Nate Burleson will also be the Hawks top recievers. The question is now... Where does D.Jack stand, rumors say he is getting traded, is he? The Hawks have made nice pick-ups on free agents, but they need to also focus on keeping our top players.

The Seahawks are like all Seattle teams. They get a great team and then they start breaking up the core of the team and start losing all over agin. Why not pay the players what they are worth and make them and the fans happy. That might make Seattle a winning team.

I'm hearing that Engram is all but wrapped up. A deal is imminent with the Seahawks. As to Ryan's post, the DJack trade rumors have cooled. If it happens, I wouldn't expect it to happen until the NFL Draft. There's no urgency to deal him right now, unless the Hawks get an offer they couldn't refuse. But that's a big "IF" that he'll get traded.
