Tobeck to retire, Pick to Patriots

2:58 PM Mon, Jan 15, 2007 |

You have probably already heard that center Robbie Tobeck made it official and announced his retirement. Also, care of the TNT, the Seahawks will give their 24th pick in the '07 draft to the Patriots (part of the Deion Branch trade). Holmgren is holding his press conference now, so expect more later.

we're gonna miss robbie. not only was he acharacter, who could poke fun at coach, but a fellow who could bring unity and spirit to the locker room. he also, along with hutch when he was here, brought some edge to the team. some "mean". i don't mean unsportsmanlike, crude stuff, but just some tuff attitude, not letting guys run over us. coach holmgren has said that it's important that someone step into that kind of role. who will it be for us? or maybe we'll pick someone up this year in free agency that can bring it to us. i'd love to see us get some bigger, more forceful guys up front on our defensive line, and please...somebody who can cover pass routes consistently down field, and can knock the taste outta your mouth when you catch the ball. we have to resign josh brown, and figure out what's up with mack strong, and chris gray. we need someone to step up and be a blood and guts general on the field for us, no matter what side of the ball they're on. we gotta get mean...but stay clean. we've gotta get real hungry for it all again this time around, and not accept failure. we need to hold each other accountable for poor effort, and play, but in a sound team spirit. that all being said...i love my seahawks, and are behind them 100% great job, guys...we fought hard, could've made it a bit further, heck, could've won it all, but it was'nt our year. you could see that kind of early, but i'm really proud of how we fought as a team, and the way we handled ourselves on and off the field. go...seahawks! i'm already excited about free agency, the draft, camps, pre-season....to be continued

dear editor. justin, have you checked out some of the blog comments lately that are coming across? seems like it's departing from any form of decency. are you aware that children, and other somewhat civilized forms of life may wish to comment here, or read others', or share credible ideas about the seahawks, as fans? isn't this supposed to be a hawks site? as "editor", what in the world do you edit, if not vile, filthy, gutteral spew from people who are so uneducated and mindless and unimaginative that their vocabulary does'nt include enough of the english language to debate reasonably? they should be barred from the site, or told to go scribble their filth on a restoom wall somewhere, and leave the comments to mature minded people who can exchange ideas with each other as responsible adults. and speaking of responsible, where's the responsiblity of this medium to the public to protect us from having to sift through sub-human waste on here to get to meritorious content?

I wouldn't throw stones OR try to come off as an angel, Bobby. Other than you being a Hawks fan on your own site, I saw you giving what you were getting. It's ok. As soon as Hawks fans stop giving the morons what they're here for, (attention), and believe me, they don't keep it going. You guys keep it going by even acknowledging they're here. They'll move on if and when they stop being fed.

HEY, BETTINONDABEARS, I'VE TRADED IDEAS OVER FOOTBALL ISSUES, AND YES, EVEN IN A HEATED FASHION ONCE IN A WHILE. I'M NO ANGEL, NOT EVEN A GOOD PERSON. JUST A SINNER, SAVED BY THE GRACE OF JESUS CHRIST. I'M NOT PROUD OF SOME OF THE THINGS I'VE WRITTEN AT TIMES, NOR WOULD ATTEMPT TO JUSTIFY THEM, BUT I CHALLENGE YOU TO BRING TO REMEMBRANCE ON INSTANCE WHERE I'VE USED FOUR LETTER FILTHY WORDS, OR REFERED TO PEOPLES PRIVATE PARTS, OR BROUGHT UP PERSONAL VILE ISSUES ON HERE THAT HAD ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SPORT WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE WRITING ABOUT. I JUST AM I STRONG FAN OF THE SEAHAWKS, AND WANT TO COME ON HERE, AND HAVE OTHERS BE ABLE TO COME ON HERE AND NOT HAVE TO INGEST SUCH GODLESS FILTH AS WHAT I'VE SEEN FROM A FEW ON HERE. YOU CHALLENGED THE CONTENT OF MY POSTS ON HERE, AS WELL YOU SHOULD. I'M GLADLY ACCOUNTABLE FOR HOW I RESPOND TO THOUGHTLESS, FOUL-MOUTHED PEOPLE ON HERE WHO CAN ONLY ARTICULATE IN THE CRUDEST OF DIALOUGE, FOR LACK OF CHARACTER, HOW ABOUT ALL OF US? LET'S TALK FOOTBALL, NOT HELLISH TRASH. GOOD GAME SUNDAY, GOOD LUCK AGAINST THE SAINTS.

Bobby Sims, we've appreciated your comments all season long, enough said

Our apologies for some of the rude flame wars in comments. We've been deleting them along the way, and we've banned a couple repeat violators.

It's been a tough season for a lot of people, and it's unfortunate some have decided to break our comment rules.

goodness, some of the posted comments were FAR from goodness ! I certainly hope you managed to get rid of all of the off-topic crud posted here by a few who seem to have a different idea (of what football is all about) than the loyal Seahawks fans who want to post here but would rather not step in unmentionable virtual filth

however, we WILL be loyal to our Seahawks, since back when the uniforms were bright blue and bright green, and the quarterback was some last-letter-of-the-alphabet whosis ...

to those who question why "gossip" should appear here, yes there are those of us who would like to root for the individual Seahawks when they have a personal triumph, as well as one on the gridiron

Yes Bobby, you are one that actually has been posting viable info and ideas. Has to be hard to keep cool with all the b/s. I'm sorry I posted that yesterday, and sorry to the Hawk Nation for any and all of my posts that weren't of a "constructive" nature. This is your site, and really, other than my wife being a Charter Hawks fan, and our living in N.E. Wa. St., I really have no business being here. She should be here instead, but it's MY computer. lol Great game played by both teams Sunday, and thank you for the "good luck" with the Saints. We'll need that, and more. The Saints should probably win, but then.... the Chargers and Ravens should have, too. lol I wish the NFL had consulted me (kidding!) before all the realignment. In our almost 17 years of marriage we never had what happend Sunday to worry about. We're both "die-hards" where our respective teams are concerned, and NEITHER of us want to hear, "It's JUST a GAME". If anybody knows what I'm talking about, Seahawks fans do. Thanks again, Kevin in Kettle Falls (walking on eggshells)
