Bad News for Hasselbeck

6:53 PM Tue, Jan 16, 2007 |

NFL.com is reporting that Matt Hasselbeck also has a torn labrum in his left shoulder on top of his broken fingers and bum knee. The site reports that surgery is "inevitable". That means the Hawks could go into training camp without a healthy Hasselbeck. Here's a website that gives a quick explanation of what a torn labrum means for Matt. Mike Sando's Blog in the Tacoma News Tribune says it could be an old injury, possibly from the 2004 playoff game with Green Bay. More than likely, he'll get a second opinion. The Hawks have a major investment in Matt and they'll want to make sure surgery is the right thing to do. Plus, for Hasselbeck, you don't want to be cut open unless it's necessary. Stay tune to the blog and KING-5. We'll have more as we learn more about his injury. Plus, catch Northwest Sports Tonight 9:30 on NWCN, 10:30 on KONG. We'll talk with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Damon Huard about what an injury like that could mean to a quarterback.

Well, there ya go... oh my God!!! That's it!!! That must be why that snap got mishandled!!! Let me pass that info to the wife, (a Seahawks fan). Now she'll be able to use that excuse when defending her beloved Hawks.

Evan said:

Wow poor Hasselbeck. How much more can he take?

good said:

maybe we'll get a decent quarter back now!

THOMAS said:

He's a pro bowl quarterback thats been to the Super Bowl - why would you want to get rid of him? Matt's the best chance we have of winning the big one any time soon.

bettinondabearsss said:

Git 'r fixed, Matt & get well soon. Really. No, really!!! I'm not kidding.

Sarah said:

that just goes purfect with the injurys this season!! get better soooon!

Seahawk Fan said:

We need Seneca Wallace!

Time for a change said:

Maybe if they would have considered all the injuries to Matt and replaced him with Seneca we might have won our last game. Ya think?

Hawk Guru said:

Wow I'm surprise to see all the negative comments towards Matt. For all those that want Wallace in, did you see the KC game? Hasselbeck has been injured since week 7, anytime you miss significant time during the season your timing might as well been thrown out the window. Matt didn't lose the game last week, the whole offense lost the game. We lost because on 3rd down and 2 or less we went 0 for 7!!!! Bottom Line! Fix the OLINE!!!

Nevin said:

If we would of pulled Matt and put in Seneca we would of been blown out by the bears, plain and simple. I agree with the person who said the whole offense lost the game. They played great but when it came down to some key plays we simply blew it.

Liz said:

Well no wonder he played like crap in last sunday game... Better retire him before something else happens.... Haaaaaaaaaaa poor baby, NOT!!!!

brian said:

this might mean that senaca wallece might go and take us to the super bowl next year

Hawker37 said:

Our prayers our with you Matt! You showed a lot of guts and moxie playing the way you did with two broken fingers and now the shoulder injury. We know you will have full recovery so we can shove the ball down the throat of the Bears and Cowboys defense next year. Knowing that you endured all this and still left it on the field on Sunday makes me even prouder to be a Hawks fan and it makes me admire you more. In the words of Rudyard Kipling:
"If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
and lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold On";
...You will be a man,"
I think this sums up the Hawks season better than anything else and especially Hasselbeck's situation.

Hawker37 said:

One more thing...to all of you who think that Seneca Wallace is going to take us to the Super Bowl are either one of three things: High on drugs, completely retarded or they do not know anything about football. Or you can be a combination of all three like brian, liz, nevin, time for a change, seahawk fan and good. All of which I am sure have only been Seahawks fans for only the past two years. All of you fairweather Seahawks fans make me want to vomit. Seneca Wallace is a tremendous athlete and I like him very much personally and I feel he is an asset to our team, but he is no Hasselbeck and he could never be as good.

On this day in 1972, the Cowboys beat the Miami Dolphins for their first of many, many Super Bowl victories.

Dallas: more millionaires per capita (including me)

Home of presidential assasination (John F. Kennedy.

DALLAS HAS IT ALL! OH YEAH, YOU DID HAVE "HERE COMES THE BRIDE",,,,,LMAO

GOODBYE FOREVER SEATTLE. I HAVE MADE MY LAST IMPRESSION UPON YOU.

HAIL DALLAS, AND HAIL ME!

Seattle,

Location of current number one show: Grey's Anatomy

Seattle: More billionaires per capita (including me)

Home of Jimi Hendrix the Godfather of the Electric axe. Home of Nirvana the most revelutionary band since the Beattles. Home of Soundgarden, Alice and Chains, Pearl Jam, Modest Mouse and many for.

Home of not having a president assasinated, which is better than being known for having one, but being home for the Presidents of the United States of America. (that is the name of a band Hanker.)

If Dallas has it all than Seattle has more.

Good bye Hanker and please don't ever visit. You would fall in love with this city and want to move here. We could not tolerate you on our freeways.

bettinondabearsss said:

Just can't let "it" go away, huh? Keep feeding it. Maybe it'll stay another week.

Terry said:

Well,, that is explained it, the first old injuried will never be normal like it was before. you inheriage a scar for the rest of your life.

bettinondabearsss said:

Wah wah wah, Hawker... you sound like Charlie Brown's teacher.... she from Seattle, too?

bettinondabearsss said:

And how does it feel to be beaten by "dumbasses"?

bettinondabearsss said:

Here's some constructive football talk... try just punting on 3rd down. Saves being "stuffed".

bettinondabearsss said:

You can call it the Hawks "hurry up & lose" offense.

Hawker37 said:

bettinondadumbasses,

Mike Holmgren does not run a hurry up offense since he runs an up-tempo version of the Bill Walsh West Coast offense which is used for the whole game. This offense is the greatest offense to ever be devised in the history of the NFL.

You would know this if you were a student of the game. You might want to read up and check your facts before you get diarrhea of the mouth again.

bettinondabearsss said:

I was KIDDING, dim-bulb. and lmfao@studentofthegame.

bettinondabearsss said:

I thought they called it the "Run & shoot yourself in the foot" offense.

Hawker37 said:

bettinondadumbasses,

No, you got it all wrong again. The "run and shoot yourself in the foot" offense was devised be Lovie Smith and Rex Grossman. Completing less than 50% of your passes thrown and having a less than 40 quarterback rating are the tell tale signs that you have mastered the not-so-intricate system.
On another point, I felt a huge gust of hot hair coming from the east on Sunday, the NOAA alerted everyone that it was just an anomaly due to the whole population of Chicago releasing their collective sigh of relief.

emerson said:

get the surgery - get healed w/ shawn. Heal up and improve the o - line.. heal up the secondary.. we have been competive enough the past couple years to be eligible for some key free agent pick ups in the off season. Heal up - upgrade performers, drop the butter finger folks and see you in arizona in 2008

bettinondabearsss said:

Just "unregistered", o all knowing one. At least he didn't shoot himself in the foot w/ a football. And all of your witty stat-bending and hanker-like rhetoric can't change the fact that your Seahawks lost. Doesn't make them losers, even if a few fans like you, are. And that "warm draw" of air from the East, is because the city of Seattle was sucking so hard.

bettinondabearsss said:

And just how is it that a Hawks fan can't spell diahrreah?

bettinondabearsss said:

And the offense was called "Try not to laugh, the Seahawks are in the playoffs again", offense.

bettinondabearsss said:

Hawker, since you have your finger on the weak pulse of the Hawks, do you know if they're going to Keep Pete Hunter around.... I mean, if they do won't it get kinda' confusing with all the "peter hunters" they already have on the team?

Hawker37 said:

bettinondadumbasses,

Your funny! Where I come from unregistered and stolen are the same thing. I wonder if the serial numbers were scratched off?...I digress.
Looks like you are the one who cannot spell diarrhea. Here is a hint, copy and paste the word into dictionary.com and it will tell you how to spell it, it even gives a pronunciation guide for idiots like you. Or you can copy it the way you spell it and paste it into google.com and it will say "did you mean diarrhea." Here is another suggestion, you may not want to argue spelling of medial terminology with someone in the medical field. Don't get chafed from those depends.

Hawker37 said:

bettinondadumbasses,

That is pretty witty considering you have a player with the last name, Imgonnalayanegg, I mean Ogunleye. And Throws Grossman, I mean Rex Grossman.

bettinondabearsss said:

You a "Custodial Engineer" at Harbor Puke??? No answer on your peter hunters? 2ff

Hawker37 said:

If you equate medical field with "Custodial Engineer" than you are a bigger retard than I first thought. The only one that is hunting for peters is you. Have you, Charles and Jason held your wrestling match yet to determine who was the alpha-female?

bettinondabearsss said:

You GOTTA' catch "Idol" tonight. Watching on Fox5 NY. They're in Seattle. 2 hour special. Finally found one to send through to Hollyweird. Took 35 minutes of show to get the first one with any talent.... they came up from PORTLAND! lmfao

bettinondabearsss said:

I'm thinkin' you're the one "equating" medical field to being a janitor at Harbor Puke.

bettinondabearsss said:

Gotta fly. Take care of that "hawker" problem. Could be more of a respiratory problem than you think. Kinda' miss Hanker... you should, too. You appeared much brighter when they were here.

I can't believe some of you would just turn your backs on Matt like that and flip-flop to Wallace the first sign our star QB might have more to deal with. Did you pay any attention to Matt during the 2005 Season - HEALTHY? Or did you just hop on the Seahawks bandwagon during the playoffs? Pay attention!
Does it not make a bit more sense that if Matt was playing injured he might not have been playing his best? Does it make any sense that will all the other Oline injuries that just made it that more difficult for him? We made the playoffs with WAY too many key player injuries - and guess what people - it's the NFL - mistakes happen.
I think Seneca Wallace will be a good QB when his time comes but Hass is a "GREAT" QB. I don't know about you but I'm standing by 'great and experienced' vs 'young and still learning'. Shame on you.
Personally, I am looking forward to a REALLY strong performance from the Hawks in the 07 Season with Matt and I can't wait!

Stick around Bettinondabearsss. At least past the weekend so we can get a post game reaction from you on WHY your Bears lost to the Saints :) You know it is coming. But bask in your glory for a few more days until then I guess. Sometimes you are almost amusing.

I think I also told you being a fellow Washingtonian (with a poor misguided Hawks fan wife), like the Hawks, I'm goin' nowhere. I'll let you get back to your & Yanker's "losing battle". I Have to say among your other 6 or so fans that choke your blog, you are the weakest link, goodbye.

bettinondabearsss said:

cowboys blah blah bla.... ON THIS DAY IN 1976 THE COWBOYS LOST 21-17 TO THE STEELERS, (THEIR 2ND WIN IN A ROW) forget that bit of history, gomer?

bettinondabearsss said:

And Yanker, that was SB VI, Jan. 16, 1972 with Miami. You're a couple days behind, but we understand.

bettinondabearsss said:

Or, Hanker, you may just get mixed up on losses you call a "win"... my ol' lady is that way about SB XL.

HAWKS 12TH MAN said:

ABOUT THE SO CALLED GIFT FROM DALLAS. THATS NO GIFT, THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE A ROOKIE FOR A Q.B. JUST LIKE YOUR GROSSMAN SO CALLED Q.B.

Jason said:

Your WHOLW season was a gift.

How many wins by last minute field goals. Losing twice to SF and then to Arizona. Come on now......and then winning by luck in vs a WILDCARD team.

Yes, we are very happy about our rookie QB. What's up with your VETERAN QB. What has he done. Lets add them up.

Last Sunday.........
Botched a KEY fourth down and 1 snap.
Got sacked late in the game...Like a Rookie

Last year.....
LOST THE SUPERBOWL

Year before........
Threw an INT for a TD in the playoffs in overtime.

And all the other three playoff apperances that fell way short.

Tony Romo only had half a season. He LETERALLY led the Cowboys to the playoff. So if anyone could lose it in the playoffs.........it would be him. But, I'll take this rookie anytime over your VETERAN who by the way has broken fingers and just went through Shoulder Surgery.

Good luck with your VET. LMAO

bettinondabearsss said:

No. It wasn't a vet. It was a real Dr... Oh... nevermind.

THE HAWKS 12TH MAN said:

WELL I HAVE HAVE TO SAY TO YOU IS GET YOUR WEAK 175 LBD -SS OFF THE COUCH AND GO TO A GAME FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YOUR SORRY LIFE.THEN I CAN WATCH YOU CRY LIKE A BABY ON TV.GO EAT SOME PIZZA ISN'T THAT WHAT YOU GUYS ARE SO FAMOUS FOR.

THE HAWKS 12TH MAN said:

AS FOR JASON, HECK YOUR COACH DOESN'T EVAN KNOW IF HE WANTS TO COME BACK TO THE COWBOYS.i WOULD GO BACK THIER IF I WAS HIM.LOL

Hawker37 said:

Jason,

Only time will tell if Romo has the balls to play eight games with a torn labrum, a broken hand and a torn MCL in his knee at the same time. Watching the game I do recall he was crying over a cut on his finger after Big Play Babs sacked his sorry ass.

Jason said:

I sense anger and frustration coming from Hawker37 and the hawks 12th man.........Maybe its because the read my posting and the TRUTH HURTS.

Or may be its the frustration of NEVER winning the big game since 1976. I understand your pain.....Don't be mad at me. Maybe it's time to find a better team. LMAO

No we are famous for WINNING super bowls. LMAO

OOPSS I better stop before Hawker37 starts crying to the editor AGAIN......saying make them stop.....HAHAHA LOL

Hawker37 said:

LMAO LAME-O Jason is a professional short hand writer. To bad he does not have the ability to carry on a grown up conversation. Member, you member 1990 whatever when the cowboys did...Troy Aikman did...Emmitt Smith did...Member?

The truth does hurt, the cowboys lost to the Hawks twice in 2 years who haven't won a Super Bowl since 1976.

bettinondabearsss said:

The whining is as "second nature" as the losing. That's the "trademark" they're REALLY known for. Not the "12th Man"(which they have to pay A&M for). Yeah, they're loud. Those vocal chords get a "year round" workout. Ok, off to watch some more ESPN so I can get an idea on how may points the "experts" expect those poor Cinderella, Katrina ravaged (*sob*sob* sniffle honk*) Saints to beat Chicago by. Has to still hurt as bad as.... being beaten 2x by the Panthers, once by the Redskins (LMFAO). That's as funny as the Colts reg. season loss @ Tenn.... oh... and their OTHER 3 losses. Yeah... sound formitable. NOT

SeaHag fan said:

Get well soon Matt. You played like a pro even though you had to endure pain from broken fingers and injured shoulder. As a hawk fans, we have nothing to be ashamed of and we are grateful. Go Hawks.

bettinondabearsss said:

Get well, Matt. Barring meeting in a possible playoff scenario, see ya again (Bears) in '09.

bettinondabearsss said:

Make that '07 at the Q. (thanx Hawker)

bettinondabearsss said:

And... again in the (ugh!), Playoffs. Man, this realignment thing really adds some spice to what would normally have been a dull midlife crisis. lmao, gl
