Seahawks falling and falling...

Ok, I know some of you could care less about where the Seahawks rank in any sports writer's Power Rankings. Maybe I need to ask Dennis Bounds to start ranking teams, then maybe we'd have something to go with. But since Dennis is too busy being a big-time TV anchor, we'll have to go with what's available. ESPN has the Hawks dropping to 15th (previously 10). SI.com has the Hawks at 12th (10). CBS Sportsline also has the team at 12th (10). USA Today has the team at 14th (11). (More than one of the writers think the losses have much to do with Matt.) Odds, you may ask? Looking at the past few games, you'd think Vegas doesn't have a clue. The Chargers are only favored by 4.5. Anyone else really think it'll be that close? Anyone out there think the Hawks can win this one? Can they stop LT?

Heck, can anyone stop LT?

The Hawks are right where they should be in the polls. Can they beat the Chargers, yes, will they, not based on their performance this year?????? Inconsistency may be the key word here but I wish we had a few more players with that "refuse to lose" attitude. We have too many guys who start to hang their head when things start to go bad. Matt has gotten back into that "gotta make things happen" mentality which just plain doesn't work for him. Shaun runs like he is in a zone blocking scheme, just waiting for the holes to open up as the line blocks down. The problem is that's not our blocking scheme. I love SA but our scheme needs a back that can hit the holes not search along the line for a crease. The defense got a little full of themselves and are looking for the big play too often. Our linebackers are fast but they over pursue and run themselves out of plays. The DB's are not staying with their assignments and blow them off too quickly in order to support someone else when they should be staying with their responsibilities. Our corners play too far off they ball, especially in short yardage situations. I've seen them play 8 yards off the line when the other team only needs 7 yards for the first down. Our coaching staff gets too worried about the team making mistakes and gets too conservative in it's play calling instead of being aggressive and attacking the field. They have also made poor decisions regarding time off and how they're treating the psyche of the team. Letting them have the bye week off was the wrong thing to do and they compounded it by letting them off the hook after ridiculous losses against teams that had no business playing with us. Mike Holmgren is a great coach but he needs to examine some of the decisions he and his staff have made this year. We are not a team of players that can self police. They have proven that they need to be channeled and directed as apposed to the current approach.

I love my Hawks and that's why I'm pissed. As a 30 year fan, I can be pissed at my team because I've been through the hell of losing and loser owners and don't care coaches and I'm still right here. They are better than this and each one of them needs to look in the mirror and decide what they want to do....lay down or refuse to lose!!

I have been a long time fan of the Seahawks through the good and bad years of the past and the last half of this season has been incredibly disappointing to say the least. The fire that they had last year is missing. The most exciting thing this season is seeing WR Mr. Hackett flying in the air and playing football like it suppose to be played, and doing his job to catch the ball unlike over rated, over paid "DJ". I would have a nice nest egg saved for every time that man has dropped the ball. Matt and Sean just don't have any drive and their intensity is severely lacking. And then I hear today that Tatupu is selected for the Pro Bowl this year? And for what?? He was so explosive last year and he has literally became a ghost this season. My opinion is that the Hawks have been damn lucky to get as many wins as they have. They are not playing up to their potential and as a fan is it is incredibly frusterating to watch an entire game without coming unglued. The Chargers game coming up will be a difficult game for the Seahawks to win. As always, I will be rooting for them and hope that they find themselves and remember how it felt last year when each team member was playing the game to their potential.

There are MANY reasons why the Hawks are playing the way that they are but INJURIES sum it up for me. If players are consistantly out of the line-up then it makes it hard for the offense to get it going. If our offense fails our defense can't put the points on the board and if they are playing 80% of the game, then it doesn't look good. I for one, am not going to give up on them yet, I may have been angry and frustrated just like most fans but, I believe that I can see just why they are struggling and still hold out hope that they can win the last two games....IT AIN'T OVER TIL IT'S OVER!!! GO HAWKS!
