Locklear suspended by NFL

3:32 PM Fri, Oct 27, 2006 |

ESPN is reporting that Seahawks RT Sean Locklear has been suspended by the NFL for this Sunday's game versus the Chiefs. The suspension stems from Locklear's actions last January, during an altercation with his girlfriend in a downtown Seattle bar. He was charged with assault, and made a plea bargain over the summer that avoided going to trial. With Locklear suspended, expect Tom Ashworth to start at RT. Ashworth has practiced with the first team offense this week, as Locklear recovered from an ankle injury.

...And so the saga continues. This season is pretty much ruined at this point if we keep losing players at this rate.

Let's hope not. There're still plenty of games to play. With a soft schedule ahead, Shaun returning, and then Matt, along with the general idea that the coaching staff is pretty darn good (albeit predictable and sometimes too conservative for Hawks fans), unless the Rams all of a sudden turn into a playoff caliber team (they DO have one of the easiest schedules) I still have to believe the Hawks will win the division. An away playoff game may be tough. A home game would be much better--for obvious reasons. The O-line has to protect better. The defense has to gel. But the Hawks have a great QB and a great RB. Great wideouts. Great linebackers. The best LT in the game. Ruined may be too harsh a word. Nothing ventured, nothing gained... as the saying goes. Go Hawks.
