« Seneca Wallace's first NFL start ahead? | Main | Where was the 12th Man? »

Pillaged and plundered

Okay, I'll now state the obvious and point out what every fan at Qwest Field saw in today's lost to the Vikings: The Hawks lost on both the offensive and defensive lines. Big time. They lost the battle in the trenches. The Vikes were in the backfield way too often, and on offense, they manhandled the Hawks front four. By sheer weight. In the secondary, Kelly Herdon is being picked on. Often. For the third straight week he seemed out of position. Special teams gave up too many big plays. The two big returns hurt. Even the 12th man seemed to show up complacent. One thing to think about: If Matt cannot play next week, Seneca will do better after a week of running the number one offense. But the Hawks have consistently been unable to run the ball this season. That could be a BIG issue in the weeks to come. Get ready, Hawks fans. The season just got more...interesting.

WELL, JUSTIN, YOU'VE HIT IT ON THE HEAD AGAIN. FOR WHATEVER REASON, OUR FRONT GUYS CAN'T PROTECT OUR QB, OR RUN BLOCK. SECONDARY, TO ME, AS MUCH AS I LOVE THE GUYS, SEEM TO BE MEDIOCRE AT BEST. WE CONSISTENTLY GIVE UP BIG PLAYS DOWN THE FIELD, WHEN WE DON'T GET A PASS RUSH. WE CAN'T COVER. WE NEED A QUALITY VETERAN CORNERBACK. NOT BEING MEAN, 'CAUSE I'M STANDING BEHIND MY HAWKS ALL THE WAY, BUT RIGHT NOW, THERE'S QUITE A FEW TEAMS BETTER ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL THAN US. LAST SEASON, YOU JUST HAD THAT SPECIAL FEELING, EXPECIALLY AT QUEST, THAT WE WERE ALWAYS A LITTLE BETTER, AND GOING TO PULL IT OUT. THIS YEAR, I FEEL LIKE WE'RE JUST HOPING OUR WAY THROUGH, BY THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH. THERE'S ALOT OF FOOTBALL LEFT, BUT EVEN IF WE CAN WIN OUR DIVISION, WE DON'T APPEAR TO ME TO BE A TEAM THAT CAN GO ON THE ROAD AND WIN I BIG PLAYOFF GAME IN THE FIRST OR SECOND ROUND. I'VE BEEN SCARED OF THIS THING WITH MATT ALL SEASON. HE'S BEEN HIT REPEATEDLY, AND IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE HE GOT HURT. I HATE IT, MORE SO BECAUSE THEY CAME INTO OUR PLACE AND KICKED US AROUND. WE BETTER GET MAD. WE BETTER GET DESPERATE, AND COME OUT FIGHTING LIKE THE WOUNDED ANIMAL WE NOW ARE. I DEARLY LOVE MY TEAM...AND I'M SICK RIGHT NOW. GO.....HAWKS.

How about "the season just got a whole lotlonger"? If we keep playing the way we're playing, it is going to be a long, long season.

This is to correct my last post. Should read "lot longer", not "lotlonger."

To follow what Brian pointed out, "a long season" is exactly what the guy who sits behind me at the Qwest kept repeating. We'll see. I'd like to think Seneca is capable, especially with such veterans around him. He's had a few years to learn this offense. But it would be nice to see whoever is taking the snap get more than two seconds to throw the pigskin.
