Coach Holmgren announced in today's press conference that Shaun Alexander will sit out one more game, as his foot injury has yet to heal enough for him to play. Expect Shaun back by the Rams game. This doesn't really surprise me, given how much the team has invested in the MVP. No reason to chance anything in a game versus Oakland that has the opening line favoring the Seahawks by 8 points. But I do expect, given the coach's comments today about a lack of any running game, to see the Seahawks try and maintain a better offense, have a better time of possession, and simply call more run plays. 5 Comments |
ARRRRGGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!
will matt hasselbek be able to play the rams, Will he be able to pplay at all???
WELL, I'D LIKE TO THINK WE'RE FAVORITES TOO, AND WE ARE, IN MY HEART, BUT THE WAY THINGS ARE LOOKING, WE'D BETTER BRING IT, BECUASE THERE'S NO GUARANTEES. YA' KNOW, AFTER A WEEK OF CONSTANT BERATING AND BELITTLING BY THE MEDIA AT LARGE, I FEEL OUR DEFENSE IS DUE FOR A BIG GAME. WE NEED IT FROM THE FRONT GUYS, SO THE SECONDARY DOES'NT ALWAYS HAVE TO CROWD THE LINE SO MUCH, AND GET CAUGHT OUT OF POSITION. ONE MORE GAME UNDER SENECA'S BELT SHOULD HELP HIM BE MORE COMFORTABLE, AS WELL AS THE BIG 12!!! WE NEED A WIN, TO GET OUR MOJO BACK. GO...HAWKS!!!!!
I had to say this is a "gimme" game but I will anyways. Oakland is a fairly poor team this year. Any game on the road at this moment I'd be worried about, but a home game against one of the weakest teams in the league might be what we need right now. If we can win this then we can stay alive in the NFC West another week. Thanks to San Diego beating the Rams, we are still on top. Look around the league at the other 7 divisions and the West is the worst so we should count our blessing so far.
Next week is even more important with the Rams coming to town. Matt won't be back for that, though Shaun might. But hopefully Senaca will have had enough practice by then to give them a good fight. If we win this week (which we should) and next week against the Rams the West is all but ours.
Although the Raiders are considered the "worst" team in the NFL right now, they DID beat the 2006 Super Bowl Champions (who've lost the last 5 of 6, by the way!) last Sunday, which means they have some fight left in them, so I won't consider this game a cake walk. If the defense can't get their act together, then it'll be a close game.
Which makes me wonder. How much different are the Steelers this year from last year? Have they changed all that much? Gotta scratch my head on how they beat us.
Nevermind. I didn't go there. ;)
