Hamlin in pads at camp

3:50 PM Mon, Jul 31, 2006 |

Reporting from Cheney: The first full pad workout sparked a lively practice and plenty of trash talk. Safety Ken Hamlin didn’t deliver any hits, but started jawing with several rookies who tried to challenge him on deep plays.

Nate Burleson, Taco Wallace and Peter Warrick had the best day of the skill players. Warrick appears to be back at 100%. He has regained the speed and mobility he lost after suffering an injury a couple years ago. Taco Wallace needs a good camp and a little luck on his side. Wallace has finished his eligibility on the practice squad and faces an outright release if he doesn’t make the Hawks roster.

Floyd Womack is emerging as a solid replacement for Steve Hutchinson at left guard. At this point, it’s Womack’s job to lose. Newcomer Tom Ashworth will shift to the right side.
