Don't wait for a Seahawks victory to make your Detroit plans

11:51 AM Sat, Jan 21, 2006 |

Couple good stories today in the local papers talking about Northwesterners making plans for Detroit. The Seattle Times has a great guide on getting to, and around, Detroit.
But if you go, expect to spend lots: According to the Seattle PI, hotel rooms - if you can find them - are running at least two times normal, airfares are climbing and ticket prices, "can fluctuate from $500 to $2,500 per ticket, with a 20-year average of about $1,500, said Mario Livich, chief executive and founder of ShowTime Tickets, a brokerage in Vancouver, B.C."
How's that saying go? Airfare: $600. Hotel: $500. Tickets to the big game: $2,000. Seeing the Seahawks in the Super Bowl: Priceless.

People like you make me laugh. The Seahawks haven't even played in the NFC Championship game yet and people are already talking about the Super Bowl. Personally, I've lived in Seattle my entire life and have seen terrible teams from every sport but always had faith in Seattle teams. But come on. Its one thing to be supportive for the Hawks, but it another to already be talking about the Super Bowl when we haven't even won the NFC Championship. Typical Seattle Fans if you ask me.

Well, I'd say he is actually being a typical loyal, believing football fan. Aren't most fans at this point of the competition thinking of the Superbowl? One game away doesn't makes us dreamers. You hardly sound like one who has "faith" in the Seahawks. I have been a true fan since the Seahawks came into being. Through the tough years, I've refrained from the 'hawk bashing that was so common place through the lean years. I've respected that they are out there yes playing for themselves, but playing for us as well. Those of us who feel the same as I have the right to call ourselves the "12th man". GO SEAHAWKS!

You're missing the (now moot) point: If you wait for the Seahawks to win, there's going to be a lot more Seattle people trying to get tickets, plane tickets, hotels, etc.

I work at a retail establishment and I requested Super Bowl Sunday off on Friday. Why? Because I knew that everyone would want the day off with the Seahawks playing. Since I was first, I get the day off. Being forward-thinking isn't a bad thing.
