They judge you when you use poor grammar

A Seattle-based group known as the Society for the Promotion of Good Grammar has designated March 4 as National Grammar Day. They're celebrating today with potlucks (bring anything good for the colon, heh) and by taking some playful swipes at folks who need help with the English language. The organization was formed by Martha Brockenbrough, a columnist for Microsoft's Encarta Web site. Today she unveiled the winner of a contest titled "Most Appalling Celebrity Grammar." The award went to President Bush, who she says doesn't realize the plural of child is "children" not "childrens." Bush beat out Paris Hilton, who created T-shirts that say "THATS HOT." Brockenbrough told KING 5: "It's not about talking as though you've got the posterior stick syndrome. It's about knowing what words mean and how to use them."

She'll be mingling with other grammarians tonight from 6 to 9 at St. Cloud's restaurant in Madrona. You can find more ways to participate in National Grammar Day here.

My fiance is a grammer freak. If I don't use correct grammer she will not talk to me the entire day.
