
U.S. Supreme Court justices this morning heard ongoing arguments in the Exxon Valdez case, the largest oil spill in North America that ravaged Alaska's Prince William Sound 19 years ago. Exxon argues it shouldn't pay punitive damages to the some 30,000 people affected by the oil spill. A West Seattle
photojournalist’s work was part of the plaintiffs’ exhibit.
Natalie Fobes (pictured on assignment in Siberia) spent three months photographing the spill for National Geographic. Her powerful
photographs have been used in the case in federal and state courts and attorneys credit her work with helping juries understand the scope and impact of the spill.
