Dozens of holiday beers bring nasty hangover

Ugh, it was tough getting out of bed this morning after last night's delightful annual Phinney Neighborhood Association beer taste. About 500 people and over two dozen breweries were in attendance, from local favorites like Maritime Pacific and Scuttlebutt to regional faves Dechutes and New Belgium. Now, what makes this event a little different is the focus on holiday beers -- those thick, tasty winter brews with some serious punch. With ten "taste" tickets each (you get a healthy 5 ounce pour) and some of the breweries, um, giving out freebies, many of us were sloshed in no time. Fortunately, it was on The Ridge, so it's all downhill on the walk home.
