Usually I take off for a solo backpack near the end of September or early October. The weather can be great and all of the bugs and people are gone. But luckily this year I skipped it and missed all of the early season bad weather. Instead I took a car trip to Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton. I hadn't been there in 7 years and I wanted to see the changes.
