MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. - Inside a Mountlake Terrace home Friday morning, officers discovered marijuana concealed in up to 10 pounds of butter.
"We discovered a recently dismantled grow operation up to about 100 plants. There were about six growing plants left and about 40 starters," said Assistant Police Chief Pete Caw.
Caw said it started with a traffic stop late last night where an officer initially stopped a driver for a broken tail light. The officer noticed an overwhelming smell of marijuana coming from the car and discovered 5 to 6 pounds of what appeared to be butter in two Tupperware containers.
According to police, the driver was transporting the marijuana for a friend who lived in a home in the 22400 block of 62nd Ave. W.
This morning, Mountlake Terrace Police served a search warrant on the home, where they confiscated at least $30,000 worth of marijuana inside, including what some call "budda" or "canni-butter."
"It's not unusual to encounter large amounts of marijuana for sale, but this is unusual because I don't ever recall in 20 years seeing this much manufactured marijuana butter," said Caw.
Police arrested the driver during the traffic stop and the resident of the house who is suspected of being responsible for the grow operation. Both suspects were booked on possession of a controlled substance.

I'm not a pot smoker (in fact I don't even take aspirin) but I find it ridiculous that police in our country focus so much on it. They've been doing this since before my grandfather was born and yet just about any college kid could get you pot in 10 minutes or less. How stupid are we as a country? Do we really think we're ever going to stop people from smoking pot? We are wasting our time and resources and sending people to jail for petty, stupid, non-harmful "crimes." If you hurt someone or steal then you should go to jail--it doesn't matter if you're high, drunk or just stupid. The behavior is what should be punished, not the plant.

They didn't hurt anybody, but as a neighbor, I appreciate their customers breaking into homes and speeding through residential streets. Technically, these guys didn't hurt anyone, but attracted people who did.

Great bust! The simpletons who think 'pot' smoking is so innocent, ignore the graduation of use from something that often leads to something more addictive. The 'pot' today is far more powerful than in days past. Society reaps the consequences of allowing this to expand through decriminalization. All one has to do is drive up into B.C. and see the failures of the policy of decriminalization with seemingly endless drug induced individuals walking aimlessly. Enter the crime; theft, violence, etc. to fund their habit and you can see the result in B.C. having to deal with so much crime the officials are downplaying it before the Olympics instead of dealing with the cause.
Doesn't hurt anyone? Well you don't have a right to infringe on others rights and when this leads to criminal acts such as this even on a smaller scale, then you do hurt others. Grow up and take personal responsibility instead of forcing the rest of us to placate your leaching off the public because you're unwilling to respect the rights of others.
