People tell me all the time that they don't trust government. They don't trust politicians. And they don't trust political campaigns.
That's why I think it's important to follow the rules.
The public disclosure laws are there to protect how our tax dollars are used. The Washington State Public Disclosure Commission has clear guidelines detailing what's allowed and what's not allowed for everything from conducting polls to using government offices to do campaign work.
If you have questions, all you have to do is call the PDC. If the PDC determines that Bellevue broke the law in its zeal to get its multimillion-dollar parks levy passed, it can impose fines, but Proposition One stays on the ballot and if it passes, taxpayers will be paying the levy for 20 years.

It's widely know elections are a farce in Bellevue. Based on the nonchalant responses of City leadership, the KING 5 reporting has revealed common practice in Bellevue governance.
When Bellevue Mayor Connie Marshall was found in violation by the PDC for the improper use campaign monies in seeking to disband one of the neighborhood Community Council, the PDC simply dismissed the monetary sanction, her belated resignation form Council notwithstanding. It is interesting to note her public support and involvement in this parks levy.
This is part of Bellevue's political culture in which the public and private are one in the same; Sarkozy and Foran apparently had no reservation with their staff's involvement in potentially illegal behavior.
If Bellevue residents indeed seek a future, a No vote would be the most appropriate response. The ordinance wasn't prepared by Preston, Gates & Ellis for nothing; it was because city management felt they would have a legal leg to stand on when – like most everything else – the issue was eventually adjudicated.
The government is waging war against the American people in Bellevue and everywhere else. The elections are fraud. Tyranny is endemic. The PDC makes no difference because they are part of the corrupt government.
